Royal Rumble 2008 Thread *SPOILERS*

Thanks for the list MiB. And why do they even still have brand affiliations? I have no idea who is where. They have made so many changes.

And how about Muhammad Hassan as a surprise entrant? A young guy free agent (I think) with some solid wrestling skills...I'm sure Vince would LOVE to have him back.

Rikishi? He was in TNA for a cup of coffee (or tea, if you wish), and I think Vince would take him back too.

Goldberg? Just sayin...

AJ Styles? I have a feeling he's going to make the jump at some point...

Hawk Younkins? Remember him from Tough Enough 2?

CM Punk has been announced for the Rumble.

On a side note a sign spotted at a recent tv taping.

Carlito Spits, Santiano Sucks & Maria swallows

I was just sitting here bored as hell and I started throwing out names. Makes me kinda wish I could blame it on drugs, but I don't do that stuff. I have respect for my body.

On a side note...

"Carlito Spits, Santiano Sucks & Maria swallows"

I wish I woulda came up with that myself. That's good stuff.

Hehe. Well to fair the names you threw out were, well...kind of random and largely unlikely.

Rikisihi(t) I can't see coming back any time soon.

Mark Copani (Hussan) is trying to get back into acting and Vince has long since buried the gimmick.

Goldberg is busy doing TV stuff

AJ Styles is committed to TNA and did once turn down a WWE developmental contract because he could earn more on the Indies

TE 2 never aired here in the UK so I don't know who his Hawk bloke is. Suffice to say if he was any good he'd have a job by now.

I think you sticking to MMA is a wise move for now David! wink.gif

to be fair, you never know what will happen but obviously if any of the guys David said did make an appearence,no doubt wrestling news sites would have it all over the internet. My choices are a bit obsurd to espicially the bob sapp one, but the Sid one i think might happen.I think the Boogeyman is going to show up tonight but is he out injured at the moment?

Boogeyman is always injured. Last time he was let go, Booker T talked Vince into rehiring him but with Booker gone I think we've seen the last of Mr. Wright and his worm eating antics...hopefully.

Sid...probably not. He is so deluded and nearly 50 plus is a lousy worker who wouldn't fit in with today's style.

I still cant understand why boogeyman ever had a job,an absoloutley horrendous worker..Even Finlay couldnt get anything watchable with the guy.But i have a feeling he may well appear tonight, since there isnt any news on websites and such about surprise appearences, apart from big show, most likely the remaining spots will be taken by current WWE stars and i can see him being one of them.

With so many other eligible guys in the company not in the Rumble, I doubt if the WWE would have even given the Boogeyman a moment's thought.

Not in this year (so far):

William Regal
Trevor Murdoch
Charlie Haas
Hacksaw Jim Duggan
Super Crazy
Rory McAllister
Robbie McAllister
Drew McIntyre
DH Smith
Brian Kendrick
Dave Taylor
Deuce
Domino
Shannon Moore
Jimmy Wang Yang
Jesse
Festus
Curt Hawkins
Zack Ryder
Kofi Kingston
Nunzio
Kevin Thorn
Balls Mahoney
Matt Striker
Elijah Burke
Chavo Guerrero

What in the match or on the show? The fact that they put the belt on Chavo in the first place (he's a good mid carder but no main eventer) shows how little the WWE think of ECW right now.

I like being surprised as it's not that easy to do in this day and age of the internet and that was one hell of a surprise. It may not be for the best but kudos to the WWE for pulling it off.

Good PPV over all. Great rumble match, solid undercard.

After last night I think HBK vs Taker is more of a likelihood.

Well after finally watching the rest of it I can say...When you get past the initial entrance and surprise return... He's still crap and botching moves left right and centre.

I'm not a Cena fan but he has just been off for four months with a pec tear in case you had forgotten. Besides he really didn't enough to be too offensive.

JBL and Rey Mysterio on the other hand botched more moves than Cena did.

Bionic H was the worst though, getting rid of Big Daddy V with ease when the others couldn't knock him down for toffees!

ahh Mr.H he never ceases to amaze....

John Morrison put in a good showing I thought although Jim Ross refering to him as a younger version of HBK was a bit off.

What was all that crap with Finlay and Hornswoggle as well. Could have well done without that.

What was really good was Superfly and Hot Rod, well the build up entrances anyway when actually came to doing anything they made the Iron Sheik look like Rey Mesterio!

Match of the night BTW, Edge/Rey Rey

Just watched the Rumble last night, and apart from the ending, was fairly impressed. Did you hear the boos and cheers when Cena and HHH were exchanging blows? When is Vince going to realise that nobody (male, between 18-30) likes Cena and turn him heel?

I enjoyed the rest of the Rumble match though, and the undercard was very impressive. MVP vs Flair was surprisingly not terrible, JBL vs Y2J was ok, but had a crap ending, Edge vs Rey Rey was very entertaining and Orton vs Hardy was very enjoyable too.

Undercard - 8/10
Rumble Match - 6/10 (would have been higher with a different ending, obviously!)

Cena won't be turned heel because he shifts too much merchandise and is a draw like it or not.

Okay, it is with little kids but they need their parents to buy them tickets and stuff so as long as he has a loyal following he's not turning heel.

Cena is not as bad as people say he is, but he does get forced far to much down our throats by vince.I wonder who would have won the rumble had Cena not been ready to compete, probably Trips who is getting on my nerves more and more i see him.Cody Rhodes had an impressive rumble for what i saw, he has some potential and Umaga did pretty well in the rumble to, i can see him and the Taker having a fued in the near future.I must be the only one who cant stand Superfly Jimmy Snuka, he was never great even in his prime years for me and he makes appearences every once and a while so his surprise appearence sucked.

You've obviously never watched Snuka in his prime (I mean 1981-1984) when he was an innovative high flyer and a good worker to boot.

He was over big time in 1983 and if there hadn't been that scandal with his girlfriend's death in 1984 he would have got the push Hogan got.

I only saw snuka in the late 80s when my parents first got sky, and i was only about 5 or 6 then but i was never his biggest fan (but then he was mostly a jobber then wasent he?,i recall the undertaker destroying him in quick order).Iv seen a few of his older matches but i still really dont know whats so great about him but thats just me :).

The first match I ever watched was Superfly vs Brooklyn Brawler in the late 80's which Snuka won with the Superfly Splash and I was hooked from that moment onwards, so Jimmy Snuka has a special place in my heart. I thought it was great to see him the other night, and although I was never a Roddy Piper fan, it was brilliant to see him back fighting fit after his recent health problems. Snuka's reaction when he saw Hot Rod arriving was the highlight of the Rumble for me!

I thought it wasnt bad overall, of course I skipped through most of the Hardy and Mysterio matches, good to see Jericho getting some pops, the rumble was pretty good, I suspect this was the biggest one yet (in terms of mass) Khali, Henry, Kane, Undertaker, Umaga, DAVE, Foley, Snitsky, Palumbo, King Mabel, the ending of course was a bit of a disapointment, another acolade/acomplishment he needs and deserves eh?

Michaels vs Undertaker wouldn't be so bad I guess, perhaps could go to a draw and then having Taker finally loose next year.
