The Return of Led Zeppelin

There's a nice writup about the history and reunion of the band in the current issue of Rolling Stone magazine, and it looks as though the band will hit the road for a reunion tour in 2008 (they have already played one show in England). I decided to start a thread to gauge the thoughts and opinions of the rest on this board.

I'd see them if he were playing in a venue somewhere is the South/South West of England or Wales.

I do like me a bit of Led Zeppelin

Percy Plant has already quashed the rumours of a full blown tour as he is heading on the road with the country singer he's just released an album with.

I watched the clip of Stairway... on YouTube and they sounded great.

I have say that while their later albums were a it patchy and sometimes self-indulgent, the earlier stuff was incredible and by the time they got to the fourth album, they had transcended musical genres and like Floyd and The Beatles, just saying their name was the best way to describe their music.

And of course they're English!! biggrin.gif

I hate to admit it, but you guys probably have us covered on the music side of things. Kind of like a payback for kicking your ass back in the Revolutionary War. biggrin

I dunno about that Dave. I know of atleast 7 kick ass Thrash bands and I cannot recall one break away English Thrash band.

We did invent Heavy Metal and Punk though so I can rest easy in my uber smug Englishness lol.

You're right...Xentrix is the only British thrash band that I can even think of off of the top of my head (and I had to google it to make sure I spelled it right), but there are other types of music than thrash, SoD.

Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax, etc. are all good bans, but there are other types of music out there that are enjoyable as well. Maybe listen to some classic R&B, SoD. Broaden your horizons.

Like I said, top of my head. I am surprised to even know Xentrix off of the top of my head. Thrash is obviously not my specialty when it comes to music. I do listen though. Those are all good bands. Maybe not at the level of a Slayer or Anthrax, but they are good.
