Just thought Id say how my recent trip to Japan had gone, it had highs and lows...
I went to Kyoto and Tokyo mainly, with little trips here and there.
Kyoto is great, a regular modern Japanese city in the centre, but surrounded by beautiful shrines and temples. To see Tokyo again was cool, but I felt lonely there I must say...
I saw two Joshi shows, Ibuki and Wave...Ibuki was great, amazing action, while Wave was really odd, with some weird comedy wrestling. At Ibuki, I met...Mio Shirai who was charming, shook hands with Mariko Yoshida, she was cool, and met Cherry, who I had a mixed encounter with, I met have offended her inadvertantly! Then at WAVE I met Yumi Ohka again, she was nice again. Also on that show was old GAEA fave, KAORU.
Weird moment of my trip was meeting J-idol queen, Aki Hoshino! I went to Akihabara to buy a DVD of hers, then realised to my surprise that she was due in that store the next day to meet and greet her fans and launch a new DVD. I had to buy two DVD's to earn entry. Anyway, next day, among legions of Japanese Otaku, I met Aki Hoshino...we each go a chance to have her pose for some photos...then there was a bingo draw to win Aki goodies...then we lined up to say a word or two to her, have a quick photo taken with her, and collect a signed DVD cover and a neat 6×4 pic. My memory is hazy, cant remeber what I said to her, but it was a strange moment!
The other highlight for me was meeting my Japanese penpal for the first time, honestly she was just wonderful and my days with her were the happiest of my trip, I didnt want to come home!
In coming weeks Ill post a photo or two of trip highlights.
Welcome back Glowlad! Nice to hear about your trip and you enjoying yourself there :) sounds like you had a great experiance, Jeez i cant wait to go back. The Joshi shows sound fun, but Cherry....I didnt meet her myself but she seems a little arrogant and a little more diva like if you know what i mean Glowlad as iv talked with a few guys who went to a show and met her so your not the only one! And i bet your friend is very cute ;).Well its only about a month and 29 days before i go myself in april, ill be in kyoto and Osaka as you were GL. Im going to stay with my gf, then a guest house and meet several friends, purikura, Joshi shows, Karaoke, a cosplay show or two ;) so i have some plans. Ill stay 2 months myself, and then ill see korea in october..maybe.. :). Nice stuff Glowlad!
Initially my meeting with Cherry went well, but later when I asked if she could signed the bikini pic of her that youve seen, she seemed a bit wary, or maybe offended, by the pic or my bad Japanese, dunno. Yet her own signed pics were all risque too.
My penpal was amazing really, I felt so comfortable with her and so happy!
Now I guess Ill push again for the working in Japan option. Coming back to England, more than ever I felt I was returning to a place where I dont belong anymore.
I recieved a Learn Chinese textbook today...at first glance its about 532 times harder than Japanese! Cant imagine Ill ever make progress with it!
Im sure youll have an amazing time in Japan again, now I envy you!
Iv actually gone off cherry to be honest Glowlad..I dont know theres something about her, shes ok as a wrestler but i thin im just not keen on her sexy attire really. After hearing your story, i think i couldnt meet her! Most of the joshi girls are super nice though even when you cant speak Japanese :).I want to see Yuki again, shes my faverate and such a nice person..I hope she would remember me when i go back there! For your pen pal, i agree with that, all my friends were pen pals at first, then i met them and my gf in japan..they are so warm and acommadating, so helpful and kind, really very classy and good hearted.Im sure youll be good friends with her a long time Gl ;). Working in japan is a dream of mine, i applied for the NOVA school before actually but its closed down because of some problems so im looking into other schools and ways to work there. But forget chinese..its really difficult! I have a chinese, Korean and Japanese books and i think i just stick with japanese and korean..far easier, though they are incredibly tough to! Im just sorry you have to come back though :(...that sucks.
Thanks everyone! I just wish I could remember more about the Aki Hoshino encounter...you were meant to shake hands cant remember if I did that...but she did thank me in a word or two of English I remember that. In the picture we had together, she looks gorgeous but I look like Shrek in it, so I wont be showing that pic! But Ill put up a posed pic, and the signed DVD cover sometime.
The store runs such events regularly...after the Aki one was finished, I saw people queing for another event for someone I didnt know.
