I have been told that my boyfriends parents want to buy me a car as a gift. It is to make things easier in the run up to and after the birth.
All I know is they want to buy me a new car, I don't know how much or even if they have any particular ones in mind. I don't know if they will pick one for me or if I will have a choice of some.
So assuming at the moment until I have more info that anything within reason is available to me, what should I be considering? I am assuming Ferraris, Aston Martins, etc are totally unreasonable.
There are a few things from my own personal opinion of course, as it is a car for me and my baby I would want something of a decent size. But I don't want a 4x4 as I really don't want to be one of those kind of people (I hope you know what I mean). Something more like a Focus or Mondeo size.
I like japanese cars like Toyotas or Hondas. If I had to choose one car I really like I would go for a Audi TT (the new style), but it is not really suitable for the purpose.
I don't know much about cars, but my favourite around at the moment is the Nissan Qashqai. Its like a cross between a 4x4 and a hatchback, its the safest car ever tested apparently, and its Japanese! I'm sure you've seen the advert...
I used to own a Vauxhall and their new Astra is a nice car. The 5door has plenty of space plus it's relatively economical to run and insure and it's very reliable.
Get sonething like a Pugeot partner as it has sliding back ddors, which are perfect for geting kids out of cars without smashing them against the car next to you, also huge boot space,.
here is a suggestion buy a hybrid car they are eco friendly and they dont cost the earth. below is the Honda Civic Hybrid 18k and thats an Atuomatic as well
Audi A4 starts around £20k Mercedes C class starts around £22k Lexus start around £24k
so all 3 under £25k
Your talking to someone who is struggling to scrape £5K together to get a car! I suppose I forgot that "within reason" is a term relative to who's using it!
Everytime I've gone for a cheap car it backfired and I spend more running it than I did with my first car which cost £6K! Ok slight exageration, but not much of one when you add up the time spent and inconvenience of getting it fixed on a fortnightly basis! I'd rather spend the money upfront and just enjoy a better drive!
I had a test drive in a Mondeo and I liked the look of the car, but it was just way too big for me. I felt really uncomfortable driving it because it was so big.
I can hardly believe it myself as I expected something much less when they said they would buy me a car, but they have gone and ordered me a brand new Audi A4!
I feel a bit awkward as it is so expensive. I just hope people don't start to think bad of me because I can see how it looks. I meet him and in 6 months I have moved in, got pregnant and been bought an expensive car.
Now I am not feeling too good, I didn't sleep too well last night, I am cold and I have a headache.
