Former WWE champion John Cena recently lashed out at Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in a recent interview with The Sun in the United Kingdom. Cena was quoted as saying the following:
"He is a genuinely nice guy and a fantastic human being. What I kind of get peeved about, and this is my Achilles heel, is that I've wanted to do this my whole life. Rock falls into that category. At one point he loved wrestling and wanted to do this all his life. So explain to me why he can't come back. Simply put it's because he wants to be an actor and there's nothing wrong with that. He's very good and very successful. Associating with sports entertainment doesn't do much for his acting career. I get it. Just don't f*** me around and tell me that you love this. That's the only thing that gets me really p***ed off. Our fan base have so much admiration for him, he's got to respect that. He doesn't give anything back."
Quite a surprising comment made by Cena about the Rock.A bit harsh as i think Rocky gave a lot for the buisness and deserves his success now away from the sport.I expect Rocky still loves the buisness but he has every right to make a new life away from it so Cena is a little bit wrong i think with his choice of words. Unfair? Fair? What do you think ^^.l
I agree with Totty, The Rock deserves both the respect of the industry and the recent success in other media. He is becoming a very credible actor (watched Gridiron Gang last night, very impressed) and is entitled to conduct his film career as he see's fit. People can call him a sellout or whatever but most of them would do it given half a chance (especially Cena!)
Hmmm, sounds like an attack of the green eyed monster to me! Maybe Mr Cena realises he's never going to be as popular as The Rock, either in the ring, or in his 'acting' career.
Never really thought Cena was professional enough and now he comes out with this rubbish. Seriously when did the Rock turn his back on the profession? last time I looked he was doing a better PR job for Wrestling with his acting and general persona than the 'Incest Angle' WWE have managed recently.
Cena should get a life! Hasn't he causht the acting bug of late? Any money if a studio was to offer him a contract or if he was any good, he'd do the same in a heartbeat. But I agree with DM. I smell angle.
I'm surprised this hasn't made the rounds yet, although that quote is slightly paraphrased and he was more diplomatic and didn't sound as mad as that quote suggested.
A lot of people - fans and wrestlers - feel the same way but most have conceded that Rock is a good guy who deserves his success. It's not like he used wrestling as a stepping stone to making films. His talent dictated how his career went and he got lucky.
I think Cena doesn't appreciate that being a full time actor isn't always going to allow Rock time to make appearances for WWE. To say he doesn't give back is a crock as Rock did as much as he could in wrestling at that time and lest we forget he did return to put Goldberg over in 2003 which he didn't have to.
