WWE Unforgiven is next up on Sept 7th. The Main Event has been announced as a 5 Man scramble Title match with CM Punk, Kane, JBL, Batista & John Cena.
The rules are it's a 20 minute match, whoever scores a pin or submission gets the title, whoever holds the title at the end of 20 minutes walks away as the Champion. Sounds like the old Hardcore matches when the belt wason a 24/7rule.
For those wondering about the Championship Scramble, according to WWE.com the title can change hands several times during the match, but only the guy who walks out as champion after the 20-minute period will be considered the "officially recognized" World Champion. Not sure if that makes things more or less confusing.
So doesn't that make any of the pins during the match a little redundant then?
And there will be a second one for the SD Title: HHH vs Jeff Hardy vs MVP vs Shelton Benjamin vs THE Brian Kendrick(!)
As i said before it's just like the old 24/7 rule on the Hardcore belt. Didn't they learn after the doubledoseof the Elimination CHamber that this style of gimmick overkill just ruins the intended gimmick match? Obviously not.
The hardcore belt was something of a comedy belt so it was okay to have that rule. The World titles are meant to be prestigious so this kind of match is undermines that prestige completely.
They have changed the rules again today of the two Scramble match title bouts. They've added a Royal Rumble/War Games like stipulation. The champion and one challenger will start. The other challengers enter every five minutes. When a fall is won, the winner of the fall is called the temporary champion, but will not be recognized as a new champion in title histories. The last pinfall winner when the 20:00 expires leaves as champion.
Initially, it sounded like the scramble match was a "winner stays on" gauntlet match but now all five guys stay in the ring until the end.
It's now two random men who start, not the champion and a random challenger. From there, a new man enters every five minutes, pinfalls or submissions determine non-official "interim champions", and whoever is interim champion at the final bell becomes officially-recognized champion.
Is it so difficult to think an idea through before promoting it on TV?
No offence to ECW, but I hope the winner comes from Raw of SD!. The ECW, whether we like it or not, is a peripheral title, on a par with IC and US titles. I would love to see another Superstar break through into the big time like CM Punk did with M.I.T.B.. THE Brian Kendrick being in the scramble match is a move in the right direction as the WWE roster needs a big BIG shake up...
WWE Championship Scramble - HHH (c) vs Jeff Hardy vs Shelton Benjamin vs MVP vs THE Brian Kendrick
World Heavyweight Championship Scramble - CM Punk (c) vs JBL vs Kane vs DAVE vs Rey Mysterio
ECW Championship Scramble - Mark Henry (c) vs Matt Hardy vs Finlay vs Chavo Guerrero vs The Miz
Unsanctioned Match - Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho
World Tag Title Match - Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase (c) vs. Cryme Tyme
I'm assuming that Michelle McTaker vs Maryse for the Divas title will be added after SD airs on Friday.
5 matches may not seem much but three are guaranteed to last 20 minutes so there is an hour accounted for right there. Plus HHH's entrance is a hour long itself so....
Michelle vs Maryse? urgh.I dont think shawn should really compete at the ppv,far to soon from this injury, the guy really has to stop wrestling when hes not at 100%.Iv never been a HBK fan but of his more admireable qualities is that he doesnt let injury stop he competing.Only 6000 ticket sales though..thats not to good.
The ticket sales look even worse considering the Quicken Loans Arena holds 20,000...
And it's only a small tear of the tricep so HBK has been granted a release to work the PPV. To be honest with Cena, and Orton out and Edge and Taker not booked for the show, they need HBK to provide some star power. Plus his feud with Jericho has been arguably the best one of the year in the WWE.
WWE Championship Scramble - HHH (c) vs Jeff Hardy vs Shelton Benjamin vs MVP vs THE Brian Kendrick - I can't see anyone else winning although if they do I think it would be Jeff...
World Heavyweight Championship Scramble - CM Punk (c) vs JBL vs Kane vs DAVE vs Rey Mysterio - I just have thhis hideous feeling that JBL might just sneak this one....
ECW Championship Scramble - Mark Henry (c) vs Matt Hardy vs Finlay vs Chavo Guerrero vs The Miz - Finally for Matt a world title.
Unsanctioned Match - Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho - If it happens Im going with Jericho
World Tag Title Match - Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase (c) vs. Cryme Tyme - Cryme Tyme will get a rematch at Survivors and win there I expect.
WWE Divas Title - Michelle McCool (c) vs Maryse - Don't know why just think she will.
As I was typing this I just had a thought that the WWE would do a new Eddie & Benoit moment with the Hardy's winning world titles on Sunday too...
Expect Lance Cade to get involved in the Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho match tonight. Their feud is expected to continue regardless of the outcome.
Triple H is expected to win the WWE Championship Scramble match but according to WWE sources, MVP or Jeff Hardy winning the title wouldn't shock them. Hardy winning the title doesn't seem likely since there has been no build up, nor have fans wanted him to win the title. MVP winning the Scramble would be the perfect scenario, as he could defend it against Triple H, Undertaker, and Jeff Hardy over the next few months. It wouldn't come as a surprise if Big Show interfered out of frustration with Vickie Guerrero's "oversight" and cost Triple H the title.
CM Punk is expected to win the World Heavyweight Championship Scramble and defend his title against Randy Orton at Survivor Series.
ECW Champion Mark Henry will look dominant in tonight's match and never get pinned, but Matt Hardy could walk out as champion. WWE will find some way to embarrass The Miz in front of his hometown fans.
HHH having his title win counting towards his tally was a crock, especially when you know the others won't have their "wins" recognised. Also the treatment of Kendrick in that match by HHH was ridiculous. Kendrick was starting to look like a star and while that first Pedigree was necessary, the second was pure egotism.
And I have mixed feelings on the Punk situation too. I hated him being taken out and not being able to defend his belt and then being replaced by a beaten Jericho, but on the other hand the fact he didn't lose his belt by not being in the match and thus has a claim the others don't have, which will keep him in the main event picture on RAW for the time being.
And was that Show-Taker angle a real snooze fest or what? They seemed to be rushing everything on the show before that then this just dragged on, causing the time intervals in the main event to be shaved.
Overall, a solid if unspectacular PPV with another great HBK vs Jericho match to behold.
The WWE website didn't update the Triple H Scramble match victory as a new title reign this morning, but did update the WWE and ECW title changes, so it appears the acknowledgement of Triple H starting his 13th title reign last night was either dropped already or a commentary error.
It was pretty obvious Trips wasent going to lose the title espicially to the likes of Kendrick and Benjamin.Hate the fact HHH never lost a fall to.Show and Taker again...is this 1999? Jericho and HBK again..good fued but going a bit to long and Punk losing the title without even being in the match..awful stuff :(..
The Michaels vs Jericho feud hasn't being going too long per se in that they've only fought three times since it started. Rather than have then fight every week and month in various permutations (gimmick matches; tag matches, etc) they've built it up nicely so there is some anticipation which is how matches should be built and not just thrown out there.
i really thought i would hate this show but it really won me over. Matt was awesome in his match and really held the whole thing together. Mizanin continued his journey to competent mid card star and mark henry..well..you can't have everything. Liked the tag title match though cody rhodes is still really terrible at moving from hold to hold. Liked the womens match ..again i thought i would hate it but it flowed well and made sense for the most part The smackdown title match was excellent and kept you guessing right till the end. Viva la Kendrick. The RAW match was saved by having Jericho win it. Classic heel stuff. Loved the Jericho Michaels match, it was blisteringly well thought out and assembled. All in all a solid pay per view but not one that will live long in my memory
The SD scramble match sucked the very moment we knew HHH was coming out last and thus was putting in the least effort before retaining his belt. And he buried Kendrick in the process because he is an egotistical knob.
A very good ppv and a shock ending, so that was cool. I'm in agreement that Trips buried Kendrick needlessly. The internet haters were not pleased with Mr Levesque...

yeah, he did throw a beat down on young kendrick but thats okay, i think the fans will get behind heel kendrick anyway and he got a shed load of offense in on the other guys. If you want to feel sorry for someone then it should be MVP who got nothing out of that match at all. I don't like the way triple H buried Kendrick either but ultimately i expected it and i don't think Kendricks career will suffer for it. Triple H was the only guy that could have won that one but they did keep us guessing with the Jeff Hardy thing at the end which was good even though Jeff did get confused and got up way too early for the final three count. (c'mon jeff you could totally have made the sizave there) Anyway, much as i think the game is overrated i would much rather see him with the belt that Jeff Hardy who really, really doesn't know how to put a match together. I was holding out hope for the shock Kendrick win but in the end Jericho provided the shock for the night and more power to him, Punk never quite looked right with the belt. Maybe he will someday but not right now.
