Well, were off managing to scrape a 2-0 win against Andorra proving that we are still rubbish and it doesn't matter which manager you get, it's still the players.  To be fair Andorra just sat behind the ball but even so a team supposedly as good as England should be able to break down teams like this quicker.

Thanks goodness for Joe Cole and Heskey really.  We better sort out our game by the time we meet Croatia later this week or else we'll get destroyed.

Joe Coles a good player, should be starting for england more though rumours he and Cappello had a bust up on the pitch,if true,we might not see cole for the next game which would be a big mistake.Rooney again isnt up to it,a huge fall from grace, apart from one pass, did absoloutley nothing in this match.

Pretty much like his start with Man U this season. Some of them just need to be dropped to reignite the fire and some just need a break altogether.

I often watch man united when i can and Rooney has been pretty lifeless for some time now, even last season, did nothing in the european cup final, goes missing in most premiership games,no goals for england in some time,he needs to wake up and improve his game because hes actually getting worse :(.

Because it wasn't on normal TV I didn't even know the result until I saw it on here.

I think with recent performances and now that the games are not on Normal TV more and more people can't be bothered with watching England games anymore.

Mainly because there crapanyway, they got booed off at half time when it was 0-0 and then Capello subbed on Joe Cole (Who scored both goals, the first after 4 minutes of coming on) and Heskey, between them they made the difference but we still look shallow and shaky. We need a decent team performance not a bunch of indiviuals playing together. That and a Kaka type of player to create.

Joe Cole can be that player. BUT he needs to listen to what the manager tells him to do. It's all well and good when it works but imagine we told our boss to stick his orders and did it our own way and it didn't work...

Indeed he does, from the Beeb:

England coach Fabio Capello revealed he vented his fury at Joe Cole and Wayne Rooney for not following his orders during the 2-0 win away to Andorra.

Cole spared the Italian's blushes when he came off the bench to earn England a narrow win in the World Cup qualifier.

Capello said: "I was not happy with Joe and Wayne Rooney.

"I was asking them to go forward again because Emile Heskey was all on his own. I tried to transmit something to them but I was too far from the pitch."
Cole's goals did not save him from the wrath of Capello and the pair exchanged strong words as England struggled to break down the European minnows in the second half.

Capello said he had asked both Rooney and Cole to support Heskey up front, but felt that once they had gone 2-0 the pair were dropping too deep into midfield.

However, after the game Capello admitted he was happy overall with the impact of winger Cole.

It was the second time that Cole had bailed out Capello after snatching a last-gasp equaliser in the friendly international with the Czech Republic at Wembley last month.

"I have got to think about Joe," said Capello. "He is very good for himself at the moment and very good for us.
"Cole at this moment is scoring goals for fun."

Capello feels the hard-earned win will have given them confidence ahead of Wednesday's tricky qualifier against Croatia.

"I'm happy because we played a good game and made a lot of chances," said the 62-year-old Italian.

"I'm happy because it's an important three points. It's a good sign for the Croatia game."

The Italian also paid tribute to the early impact of Arsenal's 19-year-old winger Theo Walcott, who made his first start for England and was one of the few bright sparks on a tough night for the visitors.

"We played well for the first 15 to 20 minutes and had two chances to score goals," he said.
"But after not taking one or two chances to score a goal we started playing too slowly. It was not easy to find space when you have opposition putting nine players behind the ball.

"Near the box it was impossible to find space. But in the second half I changed it.

"For about 15 minutes Theo Walcott was incredible. He's an interesting player. We'll have to wait to see if he plays against Croatia on Wednesday."

The England XI were jeered by their own fans when they came off at half-time after what was a nervy display inside the Olympic Stadium against a team 186th in the world rankings.
Cole believes the England supporters will see a different performance from the national team when they make the trip to Zagreb.

"People look at it on paper and say it's an easy game," he said.

"They got 10 men behind the ball and it was a sticky pitch. It was our first qualifier and our confidence was low.

"But we got the job done in the end. Anyone who has come here and played on this sticky pitch knows it's not easy.

"Judge the team after the Wednesday's game, because Croatia are ranked fifth in the world. Tonight's game and Wednesday's game will be two completely different animals."

My attitude would before if they can't follow orders then drop them or sub them. AT the end of the day Capeelo's in charge not Rooney or Cole.

Oh my goodness 4-1?? Theo Wallcott Hattrick?? Well I have to say that was impressive, lets hope we can keep that up. That makes us the first team to beat Croatia at home in a competitive match ever.

Amazing what we are capable of when we try. Long may it continue.

Sadly we only produce this kind of result once every several years,5-1 vs germany is over 5 years ago now and no doubt we will be back to playing the same garbage in the next game.Walcott looks sensational though!

just proves the old rule that england can play against the big teams but not the smaller teams. That is the issue we need to address more than any other

That's what I'm worried about - that the brilliance will indeed not be lasting. I was a big Beckham fan, but I must admit that we needed someone like Walcott. After that Wenger should have more faith.
