I am currently watching my review copy of The History of the WWE Championship and it's pretty good. Its basically 3 discs of title matches/Main events. Looks like it might be worth getting. I must point out I haven't got to the Cena Era yet so I reserve my full judgement.
The hogan anthology is fantatsic it makes me remember the good old days when I marked out for Hogan, the reason why most of us older fans are into wrestling today. My review copy of Loose Cannon turned up today!! along with UFCs 23 & 24 can't wait to watch them...
Pillman DVD is excellent. The WWE really know how to pu these things together, it's been even better since they acquired all the old Wrestling libaries...
I got into via starting a movie review website, which was literally just that me going to the cinema and then writing a review. I used to work for 20th Century Fox as a projectionist at their head office so I knew who to contact there for screenings and from their some people just got in touch others I found by asking the right questions to right people. Now its a 2,000,000 hits a month site with multiple sections and Im now having to seriously look at taking it full time although how to generate a regular income is the hard bit...
Ive now finished the pillman DVD and I have to say for the bonus disc alone it is worth buying. THe sad part of the story with Pillman is what could have been with the Hollywood Blondes... Stone Cold almost cries!!!
This three-disc set covers the extensive career of the 'Hot Rod', whose intense rivalry with Hulk Hogan highlighted the infamous War to Settle the Score and the first ever Wrestlemania. Sometimes hated, sometimes loved the 'Rowdy one' never failed to entertain, especially on his revolutionary popular interview segment, Piper's Pit. This DVD set features Piper's unique comments on his childhood, getting into the business at 15, working with Mr. T, wrestling promoters, his movie appearances, working in WCW, his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame, and much more. In addition, fellow Superstars Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, 'Cowboy' Bob Orton, Greg 'The Hammer' Valentine, and many more offer their personal takes on the 'Hot Rod'.
This three-disc set is packed with amazing extras including:

Haven't watched this yet but as I remember it wasn't a greta PPV.
(Sports) For WWE and Raw, 2006 can best be described as "The Year of the Degenerate." This program covers the reformation of the D-Generation X group, from the early hints at Wrestle Mania 22, through the skits, promos, chaos and matches, as D-Generation made life hell for Mr. McMahon. Stars Triple H and Shawn Michaels. Extensive marketing and promotional support in a variety of WWE platforms, including magazine, online and television.
Even though it is mostly all new DX Stuff filled over 3 disks, I'm gonna get this. I hope it has all the skits with Spirit Squad and the HBK Superkicking Stan moment on the DVD.
The coverart looks pretty cool.
Hopefully there will be a DVD Listing made available soon.
I got the Marine on DVD from US, it has 40 seconds of addition footage on the unrated cut, it is basically putting in the actual stabbings ie they don't cut away.
The actual extras are meh, it is is all the WWE Promo spots and a 15 minute Making of.
Just got done watching The Four Horseman DVD (God Bless torrents) and it's another cracking release from the WWE. Their TV product may be hit and miss these days but their strength is in their DVD presentations.
There is a bit of kayfabe fom Arn Anderson while everyone else is either very blunt and honest (Tully Blanchard) or in full shoot mode (Ric Flair). There is some great classic footage (sadly not the famous promo where AA first names the group depsite it being discussed in detail) to behold here that shows you just how magical the original run was.
It's a shame that Ole Anderson wouldn't be interviewed but as I said we get candid comments from the other oriignals including JJ Dillon. Some of the stuff Flair comes out with is sometimes brutal, such as his burial of Jim Herd (whom he hated) and his request to include his caustic and damning comments about Sid Vicious. Paul Roma gets some interview time and comes across a right phallus, saying Flair wished he could be like him and called AA the "Pillsbury Dough Boy". No wonder the other Horsemen had no kind words for him either...
I'm waiting for the second disc to fnish downloading but the match listing could have been better. To wit:
Arn Anderson,Tully Blanchard & Ric Flair vs Pez Whatley, Italian Stallion & Rocky King (NWA World Championship Wrestling 6/22/85)
Ric Flair vs Ricky Morton (Cage Match 7/5/86)
Tully Blanchard vs Dusty Rhodes (First Blood Match NWA Starrcade '86 11/27/86)
Four Horsemen (Flair, Anderson, Blanchard, Windham & Dillon) vs Dusty Rhodes, Lex Luger, Steve Williams, Nikita Koloff & Paul Ellering (War Games 7/16/88)
Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard vs Sting & Nikita Koloff (NWA Great American Bash 7/10/88)
Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard vs Barry Windham & Lex Luger (NWA Clash Of The Champions 3/27/88)
Arn Anderson vs Ric Flair (WCW Fall Brawl 9/17/95)
And these promo/feature segments
The Elite 11/16/85
Four Horsemen Make it Happen 7/12/86
JJ Dillons Ring 8/16/86
Its an all night ride 12/13/86
We are the Four Horsemen 12/20/86

We are the original gang 8/5/96
Flair going off on Bischoff 12/7/98
Unveiling of the Four Horsemen 9/14/98

Highest recommendations to check out for old school fans and new fans will get a fantastic lesson about just how great wrestling used to be.
There is a DVD survey on WWE.com asking fan's opinion on possible and upcoming DVD releases which include:
The Best of Raw: 15th Anniversary Edition (match compilation) The Legacy of Stone Cold Steve Austin (match compilation) Andre The Giant (biography plus matches) Batista Unleashed (match compilation) The British Bulldog (biography plus matches) The Rock: The Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment (biography plus matches) Complete Hell (Hell in a Cell match compilation) SummerSlam: The Complete Anthology (20 Disc Box Set) Triple H (career biography plus match compilation) The Life and Times of Mr. Perfect (biography plus matches) Macho Madness: The Randy Savage Story (biography plus matches) Edge: The Rated R Superstar (match compilation) "Superfly:" The Jimmy Snuka Story (biography plus matches) The Evolution of The Hardys (biography plus matches) Mayhem Outside the Ring (Compilation of the best backstage moments in history) Best of Starrcade (Multi-disc match compilation of WCW's signature event) Owen Hart (biography plus matches) The Ricky Steamboat Story (biography plus matches) Sting (biography plus matches) Shane McMahon (match compilation
This looks a pretty good list of possible new Dvds! The ones id love are the British Bulldog, The Rocks, Andres, Mr Perfects, Randy Savage (as long as it isnt in the same way as the Warriors dvd),Owen Harts, Ricky Steamboats and stings. The Sting one i dont think will be done, but Ricky Steamboats would be awesome,i havent seen most of his earlier matches so it would be a dream to get a dvd set of his career,Perfects would be awesome as well.Lets hope some of them become reality!
There is also a load of crap on that list. Shane McMahon? I wouldn't even watch it if i was paid to! Batista Unleashed? Don't make me laugh.
The only ones I'd probably fork out for (or download ) would be Ricky Steamboat, Mr. Perfect, British Bulldog, (possibly) Randy Savage and Owen Hart, Best of Starrcade.
Best of Starrcade and Sting Compliation most float my boat out that list. The Stone Cold and Rock comilations are rehashes ofold releases. The bulldog and Mr Perfect ones could be worth a watch.
WWE have got pretty good at these Biographical releases recently The Vince one is essential.
The Hell in a cell one could be good, but there hasn't been that many HiaC matches to make a decent compilation.
But that was the whole point. It was compelling. My favorite part was the bit where Daddys Princess was telling how she refused to do the incest angle as that was too far... But lauding on about dead people isnt though.. It's almost Logwoodian.
Rey Rey has a 3 DVD disc set coming out. With the matches on there, you get remeber he was actually brilliant once upon a time...

Your pic doesn't show up but I got the same newsletter e-mail today. He's the top guy in the company right now with 2 plus years of main events behind him and 5 years of WWE tenure.
It may not go down well with the Smart Mark community but the little kiddies and teenage girls will lap it up.
The pic showed up when I refreshed the page and I forgot to change my post.

I thought the match listing was just a sample of what was to be included but apparently that IS the match listing. What a rip off.
And I agree that it's a travesty that he gets 3 discs when guys like Pillman, Benoit, Eddie, Four Horsemen and Road Warriors only got 2!
Here's the line up for The Disaster of Thuganomics

Even though Im no fan of Cena, nothing on that line up would make me want to go out and buy that. One of the extras is his entrance to Wrestlemania 22 but not the match itself. Cena's exploits against HHH are shamefully missing. At least the included his finest hour at One Night Stand.

Dunno. I never got the Vault DVD set. But this one has the full biography treatment and a load of older matches not on that set especially since the WWE now have the AWA and WCCW library to dip into.
but why wait until January when they could have a Xmas hit on their hands?
Just had this via Silvervision mail... Oh and I got the shawn micheals DVD last night. If you've read the book don't bother. Unless you like HHH, Chris Jericho, Pat Patterson participating in fan love of Shawn. It's intresting though as they have Sensational Sherri from a 2006 interview on it and I was no fan of hers but she was smokin hot in the interview.

Watched Heartbreak and Triumph last week which is basically a sickly love in for Shawn Micheals, although it is better than the John Cena Piffle.
Today I got the RAW 15th Anniversary 3 Discer. Y'know I forgot how good and cutting edge it was back in the day. Just got through the amazing spotfest of Micheals and Jannetty, Flair Perfect which ironically the first match on the DVD was a Retirement match. Ironic that, 15 years on Flair (Who lost) is doing pretty much the same angle again...
Razor Vs 123 Kid, Bret Vs 123 Kid, its great. So far that is anyway.
Who gives a monkey's about objective when it comes to Cena anyways...
Well just got through the HHH 2 disc lovefest with himself. Im the greatest, Rics the greatest, Shawns the greatest blah blah blah. Can't deny how good his matches are. Makes some outrageous statements about how he 'learned how to use weights to bulk up' and how he singlehandedly turned Cena around.... You get the idea. Crap on extras though.
This is a three disc set with a comprehensive professional biography and more than two discs filled with matches spanning the 30+ year career of the Nature Boy. Its filled with exclusive footage from WrestleMania weekend, as well as the emotional sendoff Ric received at Raw the night after WrestleMania XXIV, including footage that never aired on television. Features several matches that have never before been released on DVD, from Mid-Atlantic, World Class Championship Wrestling, WCW, and more.

Not enough matches on there really, the last Ric Flair boxset looked more comprehensive. The other thing of course is this is only good if he actually stays retired.
