I thought this week's 'SmackDown!' was good, highlights of the show where the Regal/London match, main event was solid (Big Dave was way over with the UK fans), Benoit/Tatanka, Helms/Hardy and Kennedy's promo to Taker were all good too. At first, I thought Mr Kennedy was over rated, due to all the hype, but if you get beyond all that, he is a future top tier 'talent' and his angle with Taker could get him more over. I'm still not certain he's a main eventer yet, but he's getting there. Overall, SmackDown! gets a thumbs up from me.
Teddy Long revelaed on the "Best Of SmackDown! 2006" that starting next week they will have what they call the "Smackdown Sprint." The "Sprint" is a time stipulated match which means that each week they will have a "Smackdown! Sprint" match and the wrestler who wins the shortest match gets to vs the champion in the main event at Royal Rumble.

Oh dear. What a crap idea... Is there no original angle ideas left or have they done it all?
Im watching SD! and Vickie Gurrero who could quite possibly be the worst actress ever, has threatened to come back wit someone new whose 'Caught her eye' so who do people reckon that is going to be?
Matt Hardy vs Kennedy was the best match I've seen on SmackDown for ages. Storytelling, time to build, good finish, lovely stuff. First SmackDown match I'll keep since Booker won the title (apart from my SummerSlam tape). That is all.
- Kofi Kingston and Jamie Noble over La resistance (Sylan and Rob Conway)
Smackdown:
- Mr. Kennedy d. Jeff Hardy (also, they set up Kennedy vs. Hornswaggle and Finlay next week)
- Second segment was an interview backstage with Timbaland and Ashley, which was interupted by Jillian Hall.
- The Miz over Chris Benoit in a non-ttle match with help from MVP
- Matt Hardy over King Booker
- Kane and Dave Taylor went to a no contest. Kane destroyed Taylor and William Regal.
- backstage segment with Booker and Sharmell. Sharmell slapped Booker.
- Deuce and Domino watched from an old school convertible as London and Kendrick defeated Gregory Helms and Chavo Guerrero Jr.
- JBL and Michael Cole were in the ring, and JBL cut an awesome promo on the crowd.
- The Undertaker comes with the druids intro. Taker gets ready to talk when Batista comes out says he want a re-match. Booker comes from behind, only to be tombstoned onto the announce table which didn't give out .. end of Smackdown.
not particularly detialed Im sure that someone will post something better later on. nice to see the Hardy's are back in favor then.
This weeks spoilers Im sure theres a more complete version somewhere but here's what we got.
Dark Match:
Burchill d. Flash Funk
Smackdown:
Teddy Long came out. Announced Batista vs Undertaker rematch for Backlash.
Finlay vs Kennedy was a non match. Kennedy apologized to Finlay for what happened at Mania. Finlay accepted and agreed with Ken that there shouldnt be a match. Long came back out and said both would be fighting Undertaker and Batista in the main event.
London and Kendrick d. Duece and Domino via DQ. Pretty long match ending when D&D refuse to listen to the refs warning of double teams... thus a DQ. D&D were furious. They went into Long's office and questioned the officials decision but Long said they need to learn to abide by the rules.
MVP d. Chris Benoit (Non Title). A good 20 minute match back and fourth. Benoit missed a diving headbutt giving MVP the advantage. MVP wins with a roll up and using the ropes.
Kane d. Davari. Squash match. Regal and Taylor come out post match and work over Kane.
Batista and Undertaker d. Kennedy and Finlay. Pretty average match with Undertaker choke slamming Batista at the finish then Batista tagging himself in. Batista bomb on Kennedy 1-2-3. Taker & Batista teased turning on each other through out.
- Batista d. Finlay via DQ due to Kennedy interfering. Both men laid out Batista after the match.
Jillian was singing badly again. She was also bragging about injuring Ashley. Michelle McCool got the spot as expected as she attacked Jillian.
- The Hardys & Chris Benoit d. MVP & Chavo Guerrero Jr. & Gregory Helms when Benoit used the crossface on Helms
- Deuce & Domino d. London & Kendrick to capture the tag team titles. London missed a moonsault to the floor and was injured. Kendrick went at it alone and eventually got the running kick to the face by Deuce for the pin.
- Kane d. William Regal & David Taylor via count out. This led to the announcement of Kane & Boogeyman vs. Regal & Taylor at the tapings in London on Tuesday.
Teddy Long is seemingly a few weeks, if not sooner, from popping the question to Kristal.
- In a non-title match, The Undertaker defeated Mr. Kennedy via DQ when Finlay interferred. (Kane makes the save, which may not air on TV).How comes Italy get 2 title changes this week? We virtually never get any... Ahh well. Duece and Domino the new tag champs.. I have high hopes for them but we will see.
- Undertaker/Batista steel cage promo opens the show.

- Ozzy Osbourne was announced as performing live on Smackdown next week.
5) Jimmy Wang Yang d. Cruiserweight champion Chavo Guerrero Jr. in a non-title match.
- Undertaker/Batista package aired.
- Snitsky cut a promo.
6) Edge captured the World Heavyweight title by cashing in his money in the match title shot during the Undertaker-Batista steel cage match. Mark Henry interferred and attacked Undertaker, after both Batista and Taker escaped the cage at the same time and the match was declared a draw. Edge speared Undertaker to score the pin fall. After the match, Edge laid out Taker with the briefcase.
- The Major Bros. defeated WWE Tag Team champions Deuce & Domino in a non-title match.
Smackdown:
- A Cutting Edge segment opens Smackdown. WWE World champion Edge brings out Torrie Wilson, then promptly accuses her of blowing up Mr. McMahon. MVP comes out and acts as if he's going to defend Wilson, then demands that she take a lie detector test. Ric Flair hits the ring and they beat him down. Batista makes the save.

The only thing there that excites me is the Hardy Finaly match.
Dont know how vicky gurrero could be comfertable with paricipating in the Vince angle, i know its just a show but its a bit wrong when someone she loved died for real only a year or so ago.Funaki being destoyed again...I love Funaki and wish he was given any kind of run with the cruiserweight title again! He deserves it.The show sounds pretty medicore, but as you said Dark m, Hardy and Finlay should be a very good match.
Another wedding is coming to WWE Smackdown! this time for General Manager Teddy Long and Kristal. The televised ceremony will be airing on the September 21st edition of the show which also happens to be labeled as the season premiere of Smackdown! on The CW Network. The last wedding on Smackdown! was between Al Wilson and Dawn Marie back in the beginning of 2003. This will be the third wedding to be airing on Smackdown!, with the other one being the Chuck and Billy gay wedding which turned out to be a huge angle involving Eric Bischoff and 3 Minute Warning. RAW has been the home of five other weddings in the past believe it or not!
- Some more notes from last night's Smackdown tapings in Albany, NY. They did a Khali vs. Batista dark match that went all of 1:45 before Khali was DQ'd when Finlay interfered. Described as God awful. As Batista was leaving, besides getting into an argument with a fan, he also rubbed his face in the breasts of a hot chick "for something under a minute" which was shown on the screen. It turned off a lot of fans because they saw it. (thanks to Joe Mangiaracina)
Batista is a wally, he really is.Smackdown sounds average as usual, and summerslam sounds like it was really bad from the reviews iv checked out, so i guess im not missing a whole lot.Even the Puro wrestling mags here in japan which usually have some WWE stuff inside havent anything about the company in the last issues or so.
Yes but in relation to that Episode of SD, thats a good thing. i still believe with the crowd reactions Hardy gets and his popularity in general he should be given a run with the world title. He's a better wrestler than DAVE, Cena, Khali etc. Also, if they can put the belt on Rey Rey, they can put the belt on him.. surely.
The problem is that Matt Hardy is very unlikely to be pushed to main event status because Vince holds a grudge against him over the way he went public about the Edge/Lita affair. And there is heat between Matt and Johnny Ace (surprise surprise).
I like Matt hardy, he seems a good guy in real life but in the ring,i would agree with mr Emelianenko,I just cant see Hardy ever as a world champion. He is a decent wrestler, nothing more.Rey Rey is far more exciting to watch and i believe he is more over with the crowd then matt while Khali,as awful as he is,has the look and the size which Vince loves and obviously seems to enjoy the guy being the champ right now. Matt just screams midcarder to me.Who honestly would pay to see a main even with Khali vs Hardy or Batista vs Hardy?
Here's this weeks results and Ive added some comments all under the spoilers
Spoiler
(1) Jeff Hardy d. Finlay on a DQ.
(2) John Morrison & The Miz d. MVP & Matt Hardy to win the WWE Tag Team Titles.
- The Undertaker cut a promo in the ring.
(3) Rey Mysterio d. Mr. Kennedy.
(4) Victoria & Beth Phoenix d. Mickie James & Torrie Wilson.
- They did a weigh it for the Hornswoggle vs Khali match. Horswoggle weighed in at 138 pounds while Khali wasn't able to be weighed because he was so heavy that the scale broke.
(5) Batista d. Mark Henry.
So Morrision & Miz are tag champs. What with the joining of the SD! & ECWWE combining is this their way of covering the ECWWE tag belts?
So looks like the US title fued will get sorted soon and back on track. I supposethis also means Morrison is out of the ECWWE title scene with Punk? More of Big Daddy V then...
Dave Taylor & Drew Macintyre vs. The Nasty Boys. Drew slipped on the steps during his entrance which got a few laughs. The Nasty Boys got a good pop and won the match in about 7 minutes. Nasty Boys were said to have looked good.
WWE SmackDown!:
The opening SmackDown! video airs. They show a recap from Survivor Series of Edge screwing 'Taker out of the title.
They go backstage to Edge's locker-room and Vickie Guerrero is there. She says as a 'punishment' for screwing 'Taker, he'll get to face Batista next week for the World title. Vickie then flirts with Edge calling him 'baby' and the two begin making out.
The opening segment is JBL in the ring with a gift for MVP. JBL gives him the gift (a ring with diamonds) and MVP accepts and proceeds to start calling out Matt Hardy. Rey Mysterio comes out to stick up for Hardy and calls him a punk. The two trade punches and it is broken up. Mysterio vs. MVP later tonight?
MLB star Wade Boggs is in attendance.
WWE U.S. Champion MVP pinned Rey Mysterio. No Matt or Jeff Hardy appearances. A segment was done where JBL presented MVP with a diamond ring.
World Heavyweight Champion Batista came out for an interview. During the course of the taping, it is revealed that Edge's return was done in cahoots with Vickie Guerrero and the two are together, and they were even shown making out at one point. Edge vs. Batista is announced for next week's show. The Undertaker gets involved and gives Guerrero a Tombstone at the end of the episode, with Vicky going out on a stretcher.
WWE Tag Champions John Morrison and The Miz defeated The Major Brothers.
Jamie Noble defeated Chuck Palumbo
Finlay and Hornswoggle defeated Mark Henry in a Handicap match. Great Khali came out and got involved after the match.
Edge makes out with Vicky?!?!?! OMG! Can the WWE sink any further? I mean what has edge done? First he has to have 'sex' on live TV with Lita and now making out with Vicky. THis is why I'm glad I cancelled my subscription to Sky Sports.
Former WWF and WCW World Tag Team champions The Nasty Boys, Jerry Saggs and Brian Knobbs worked their first WWE match in many years in a dark match at last night's Smackdown taping in Tampa, Florida that was said to have been an absolute disaster, leaving a ton of heat on the Nastys and possibly causing a ripple effect that nearly screwed up the live broadcast of ECW on the same taping.
From what I was told by several backstage, The Nastys treated the dark match like they were huge stars coming back. They took forever to even get in the ring because they spent so much time interacting with friends and family members sitting ringside. Brian Knobbs entered the ring with his back to the hard camera. Jerry Saggs then got in the ring "literally right next" to opponents Drew McIntye and Dave Taylor, "leaving them looking like idiots" according to one source.
Once the match started, The Nastys were said to have taken liberties in the ring with McIntyre. McIntyre, who is 21 and just started on the main roster a few weeks ago, tried to be respectful and take the abuse but finally starting dishing it back out by returning with stiff shots of his own. Even worse, Dave Taylor, a respected veteran, was treated in similar fashion by the Nastys. One WWE performer called the dark match, "one of the all time worst things you could ever hope to see. It was abysmal."
Another source believed that the Nastys taking so long actually screwed up the flow of the taping. The Smackdown taping didn't end up until 9:54 PM, leaving the WWE crew only six minutes to rush and change over the set and ring for the live ECW on Sci Fi broadcast. I have not confirmed that with additional sources, but one person who was live in the building described the ring crew as being "frenzied to finish" after the end of the Smackdown aspect of the show.
Why the hell they gave these two idiots anther go in the first place is a mystery!
here is the smackdown spoilers for march 14 WWE is currently this week's edition of Friday Night SmackDown from the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois. Below is our weekly live coverage from the tapings.
Dark Match:
Shelton Benjamin d. Chris Harris Chris Harris made his WWE debut in a dark match against Benjamin. Benjamin hit his code breaker type maneuver to score the pinfall victory. There were some TNA chants in the crowd.
Pre-Show Note:
We are told that they accidentally turned the ring over while changing out the ECW stuff for SmackDown's setup. Tony Chimel and referees were said to be responsible. I was told it was hilarious.
- There are two rows of tires in the center of the ring.
- We are told that there is something that looks like potato sacks at ringside. Jonathan Coachman and Michael Cole are now at their positions ringside.
WWE SmackDown (Air date 3/14):
The show opens with the Divas Swimsuit competition. Eve Torres, Cherry, Maryse, Victoria, and Michelle McCool are all featured. Maryse is voted off by the fans through their text messages.
Michelle McCool wins an obstacle course with the remaining WWE divas. The obstacle course was said to be extremely dumb as the divas had to run through the tires in the ring, complete a potato sack race, and jump a small wall.
A Ric Flair/Shawn Michaels promo is up next.
WWE shows a promo for tonight's match between DAVE and MVP for the U.S. Championship in a no holds barred match.
(1) Big Show d. Jimmy Wang Yang & Shannon Moore in a handicap match. Big Show pinned Shannon Moore. After the match Big Show tossed Wang out of the ring.
It is announced that WWE Tag Team Champions John Morrison and The Miz will face off against one another in a WrestleMania Money in the Bank ladder match qualifier.
(2) John Morrison d. The Miz in a Money in the Bank ladder qualifying match for WrestleMania. I was told the crowd was not too involved during the match. It should also be noted that Jeff Hardy's picture was removed from the MITB graphic.
(3) United States Champion Montel Vontavious Porter d. Batisa in a No Holds Barred match to retain the title. This match was given significant amount of time. There was a lot of chairs used throughout. MVP was able to get the pin after Umaga came out and hit DAVE with a Samoan Spike.
(4) Chuck Palumbo & The Great Khali d. Kane & Jamie Noble Khali pinned Noble to get the win for him and Palumbo
5) Edge, Zack Ryder, urt Hawkins, & Chavo Guerrero d. Ric Flair & Shawn Michaels in a steel cage match. Flair gets a monster pop from the live Chicago crowd. Vickie Guerrero comes out and says that ECW Champion Chavo Guerrero will join Edge, Ryder, and Hawkins and the match will be 4-on-2. Michaels got caught in the rope for several minutes as all six men are in the cage. Flair is busted open early in the match. Michaels and Flair both locked Figure Four leglocks on Edge and Chavo at the same time, which I was told was a very cool spot. Eventually the lights went out and the Undertaker appeared. He cleans up but Edge is able to escape for the win. Undertaker points up to the WrestleMania sign.
Vickie Guerrero re-appears and says now it's Big Show vs. Undertaker. This could be a dark match forthcoming.
(6) Undertaker d. World Heavyweight Champion Edge. It started as Big Show vs. Edge. Big Show was dominating early but left the ring when Edge came out and instructed Big Show to leave. Undertaker ended up hitting a Tombstone on Edge to get the victory.
So you have Undi beating the champ already... There goes the WM match... Morrison in the MITB could be intresting and Khali and Palumbo as a tag team?
- Edge came out with Vickie Guerrero, Chavo Guerrero and the Edgeheads and cut a promo about losing the World Title at Wrestlemania. Vickie announced Undertaker vs. Kane for later in the show.
- Matt Hardy defeated MVP in a non-title match with the Twist Of Fate.
- Jesse & Festus defeated The Edgeheads.
- Shawn Michaels came out for an interview, but was interrupted by DAVE, who said if he was in Michaels' position, he would have let Ric Flair win. DAVE made his own "Old Yeller" comparison for Michaels, and waked off angry.
- It was announced that Michelle McCool beat Cherry in the final round of the Diva competition. Victoria came out and attacked Michelle.
- John Morrison & The Miz defeated Jimmy Wang Yang & Shannon Moore. Great Khali came out and beat up everyone. The Big Show came out, but Khali backed away again.
- Undertaker vs. Kane ended with Edge, Chavo and The Edgeheads attacking them. Kane & Undertaker made a comeback and laid out Edge and Chavo with chokeslams.

So is this the start of a new angle or is Undi injured?
* Jamie Noble b. Ted Dibiase Jr. with roll up for the pin.
WWE SmackDown:
* A segment was taped with Mark Henry coming out to the ring and saying if Big Show sticks his nose in his business then he's going to do something about it.
* Mick Foley and Michael Cole make there way out to the announce table.
* SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero comes out. She makes the announcement that at Judgment Day The Undertaker will be able to compete for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship title against an opponent that will be determined tonight.
* It is announced that there will be a "Champion Chase" tournament. The winners of the tournament will compete in an over the top battle royal as this week's SmackDown main event. The winner of that match will face The Undertaker at Jugment Day.
* Matt Hardy b. CM Punk in a qualifying match. Punk tried to roll up Hardy but he reversed it to advance to the Battle Royal later tonight!
* MVP vs. Fit Finlay ends in a countout. The match was described to me as slow and boring.
* Natalya Neidhart b. Kelly Kelly with a sharpshooter!
* It is announced that both MVP and Fit Finlay will be included in tonight's main event battle royal.
* DAVE b. John Morrison to qualify for the Battle Royal later tonight!
* Big Show b. Tommy Dreamer in a short match with a chokeslam.
* Kane b. Chavo Guerrero to advance to tonight's Battle Royal main event!
* Vladimir Kozlov b. Local Jobber in a complete squash match.
* The Chase the Championship Battle Royal main event is next. Big Show vs. Kane vs. DAVE vs. Matt Hardy vs. Fit Finlay vs. MVP Matt Hardy is eliminated first by MVP. Finlay is eliminated next by Kane. MVP eliminates himself. Big Show eliminates Kane. DAVE eliminates Big Show for the win!
Vickie Guerrero comes out and says Edge has been cleared to wrestle. Edge spears DAVE off the ring apron.
* SmackDown ends with Edge celebrating on the entrance stage beside a podium that contains the World Heavyweight Championship belt (it had been there all night). The podium suddenly blows up and the lights go out. Undertaker's music hits. No Taker.
So basically this was a poor set up for yet another Taker Vs. Edge title match. This is possibly a way for Taker lose without dropping the belt? As he doesn't have it at the mmoment?
(1) Maryse, Victoria and Natalya d. Michelle McCool, Cherry and Maria.
- Backstage La Familia find Bam Neeley laid out backstage with a black rose on top of him.
(2) Curt Hawkins & Zach Ryder d. Shannon Moore & Jimmy Yang in a non title match.
- Jeff Hardy vs MVP is announced for Summerslam.
(3) Jeff Hardy d. Shelton Benjamin on a DQ after MVP gets invloved.
- Great Khali and Triple H compete in an Indian Broken Glass Arm Wrestling Challenge. It ends with Khali laying out Triple H with the Chokebomb and Vice Grip.
- A video for R-Truth aka Ron Killings airs.
- Hawkins and Ryder are shown backstage laid out with a black rose on them as well.
- Chavo tells Vickie that he thinks Edge has been laying everyone out.
(4) Vladimir Kozlov d. Jesse.
(5) Brian Kendrick d. Super Crazy.
- Backstage Edge sucks up to Vickie and says he had nothing to do with anyone being attacked.
- Vickie, Edge and Chavo all come to the ring. They call out Undertaker and the lights go out. When they come back on Edge has a chair and lays out Chavo. He then dumps Vickie out of her wheelchair and leaves with a big smile on his face.
I wasn't aware of this myself as I watched the show via download but apparently SKY/WWE cut all of Edge's segments from SD last night where he teased Vickie, wheeling her about the arena and then his final promo at ringside.
I really thought we were over this crap but it would appear that some moron at SKY still thinks wrestling is real, that Vickie is really a paraplegic and Edge really is demented and the poor UK viewing audience would have nightmares watching these scenes. When I watched the segments (from the Australian airing) I felt that Vickie's awful overacting made the segments seem worse than they actually were and it would seem some schmuck at SKY believed it.
The show airs at 22.00pm - after the watershed - and is preceded by a frank and unambiguous warning message stating the shows are not suitable for young kids. So, working on the fair assumption that the audience is largely teens and adults (although kids will no doubt stay up or tape these shows), who the hell is going to believe that this is real? We used to have this kind of petty censorship during the Attitude era when things were more "extreme" and any and everything was censored to bits yet 10 years later when things have claimed down, we're still being treated like morons by SKY/WWE.
--Sky Sports cut out last night's Edge/Vickie Guerrero angle from the show. They left in everything leading up to the final angle. It was apparently something known by WWE ahead of time because they sent a longer version of Edge vs. John Cena from the 2006 SummerSlam as the time filler. U.K. shows are two hours, but since Smackdown has fewer commercials, the WWE sends a time filler.
We don't know this as a fact, but it appears there was a complaint regarding Edge dumping Vickie out of her wheelchair from the show the prior week, as that was also edited off the show (everything else replaying the prior week was intact including the bashing of Chavo). (thanks to Stephen Lyon and Martin Bentley)
If the WWE added the longer From The Vault match then they edited the segment not SKY but did so at SKY's behest.
But the fact that some gormless Gilbert apparently complained about Vickie being tipped out of her wheelchair when we've already seen she really doesn't need it is beyond comprehension. Surely nobody can be THAT thick?
Apparently it's being revealed that SKY felt the clip with Edge - while there was no physical abuse against Vickie - went to far over the "abuse against women" line so they had the scene cut.
What a crock! SKY have shown far worse than that in other programmes and films yet because it's wrestling - which is just as staged as the films are - they take the higher moral ground and censor it.
Yes, Edge was superbly creepy in his portrayal but it was Vickie's ridiculous overacting that made it worse.
It appears the roster jumping has started again - Super Crazy worked ECW last night and Finlay worked SD. Not to mention Jamie Noble working the SD dark match against Takeshi Morishima.
