2/11 Impact 'Fight for the Right Quaterfinals' results
Seven wrestlers advanced last week to the quarterfinals in the Fight for the Right Tournament to see who will face Sting for the NWA World Championship at Genesis. Who will make their way to the semi-final round to compete in the 3- Way Collision? We will find out tonight on Impact.
A recap of the Fight for the Right stages from last week is shown, along with clips of the Kurt Angle/Samoa Joe locker room clearing brawl.
We are welcomed by Mike Tenay and Don West at the announce table. They hype tonight’s quarterfinal matchups of Lance Hoyt vs. Ron Killings, Christopher Daniels vs. Robert Roode and AJ Styles vs. Chris Sabin.
They talk about a confrontation that happened before Impact between Styles and Sabin. Footage of an interview conducted by Christy Hemme with Sabin is aired. In the interview, Sabin says the Jerry Lynn doubted him and his ability, but he is now the X Division Champion, which proves Lynn wrong. Styles enters the picture and sticks up for Lynn. Sabin tells Styles to “eat me,” which led to an altercation between the two.
An hour later, Hemme is holding an interview with Styles and Sabin enters. Sabin decides to put up his X Division title tonight during the quarterfinal match. Styles says that Sabin has no respect and vows to get it tonight.
The Impact intro airs as Mike Tenay hypes the Christian Cage/Rhino “Weapons or Escape Four-Corners Pole Match” that will take place tonight on Impact. In the match, whatever weapon or means of escape the competitors can walk away with, they can use in the barbed-wire cage match on November 16th, when Impact moves to primetime.
Match 1: AJ Styles vs. Chris Sabin (Fight for the Right Quarterfinal/X Division Title Match) Styles and Sabin battled in and out of the ring to start this match off. Both went at each other in lightning quick X Division style wrestling for the beginning portion of the match.
Styles ends up with the upper hand and goes for the Styles Clash but Sabin is able to counter with an ensiguri followed by a tornado DDT to score a two coun. With Sabin on the offensive, he misses with a clothesline and Styles answers with the Pelé. Styles sets Sabin up for an inverted DDT but Sabin is able to get out of it and take Styles down with a kick to the face. Sabin hoists Styles up for the Cradle Shock but Styles counters and gets Sabin in a rollup for the pin fall.
Winner of the Match: AJ Styles to advance to the semi-finals and become the new X Division Champion.
AJ Styles wins the X Division title for the sixth time and advances to the semi- final round of the Fight for the Right Tournament. Styles holds the title up high as Sabin looks on in disbelief.

We are back at the announce position with Mike Tenay and Don West. They talk about an interview conducted with Sting that shows a whole new side of him and that he has a whole new mindset. During the interview, Sting says that he too felt that Jeff Jarrett was a changed man during their match at Bound For Glory and goes on to quote Psalm 23 and say that Jarrett is literally walking through the Valley of the Shadow of Death with his personal problems.
Sting also states that he removed the cancer in TNA by defeating Jarrett and taking the cancer away – the NWA World Title. He goes on to say that in the past, people have used the title to fulfill the need for lust and greed. Since he has it now, it will represent honor, dignity and truth. In closing he gives credit to his accomplishment to God and says that without him, he is nothing.
Jeremy Borash is backstage with Lance Hoyt and Ron Killings. Borash brings up the fact that in recent times the two have been teaming together but tonight they will have to face each other in the Fight for the Right quarterfinal round tonight. Killings tells Borash that Lance is a friend of his, but friends don’ t pay the bills. Hoyt warns Killings that if he gets the chance tonight, he will knock his head off – but in the end they will still be friends.
As Killings and Hoyt leave, Eric Young comes up from behind Borash and asks if he has seen Jarrett around. Young says he is worried about Jarrett and misses him.

Match 2: Lance Hoyt vs. Ron “the Truth” Killings Killings tries to make it a quick night by scoring two near fall rollups on Hoyt. Hoyt answers back with a big boot to the face of Killings for a two count of his own. Killings is able to regain control by dodging another big boot by Hoyt and landing a corkscrew forearm to knock the big man down. Killings follows that up with an axe kick and a cover for the three count.
Winner of the Match: Ron “the Truth” Killings by pin fall to advance to the semi-final round.
The Truth’s post-match celebration is cut short by the James Gang who enter the ring. BG James shakes the hand of Killings and apologizes for coming out and interrupting but he has something to say.
BG James takes us on a little history lesson. He says that 10 years ago, him and Kip James we recruited to help get two other guys over. Eventually the world would see through those two guys to see who the real stars were. Later on in TNA, a group called the 3 Live Kru would emerge but TNA would drop the ball with them. For the past six months it has been the same story with the James Gang. James states that if they can’t find any work for them, then he knows where to go to find it and that they are done with TNA.
Kip James gets on the mic and tells BG that he has gone soft and he is going to tell it like it is. As he is addressing TNA and Spike TV his microphone gets cut off. Kip storms out to the announce table and puts on a headset only to be cut off again. An infuriated Kip James then climbs the announce table to scream what he says but it cut off one last time by a commercial break.
- Commercial break –
Match 3: Robert Roode w/ Ms. Brooks vs. Christopher Daniels Roode gets the early advantage on Daniels by getting him in a corner and stomping a mud hole in him. Daniels is able to gain control of the match with a clothesline. As Daniels goes for a pin attempt, Ms. Brooks climbs on the ring apron to distract Earl Hebner. Ms. Brooks is able to save the match for Roode yet again after Daniels lands the BME. After a second failed pin attempt, Daniels tries to put away Roode with the Angel’s Wings but Brooks grabs the foot of Daniels and trips him up. This gives Roode an opportunity to execute a swinging neckbreaker on Daniels for the pin.
Winner of the Match: Robert Roode by pin fall to advance to the semi-finals.
After the match, AJ Styles comes out to console his former partner.
- Commercial break –
Match 4: Christian Cage vs. Rhino (Weapons or Escape Four-Corners Pole Match) Borash announces before the match starts that the match will be over once all four items have been removed from the poles.
Rhino jumps Cage in the entrance ramp and beats him around the ring, stopping occasionally to throw him in to the guard railing. In the ring, Rhino goes for the pair of chairs on one of the poles, but Cage is able to hold him down. Cage then goes for a set of keys that will unlock the door to the cage but Rhino is able to throw him off of the ropes and on to the floor below. Rhino grabs the first item, the set of keys as we head to a commercial break.
- Commercial break –
We return to see Rhino throwing Cage back in to the ring, which now has a table in it. During the break, we see that Rhino was able to get the straightjacket that was hanging down from one of the poles. Back to live action, Rhino sets up to Gore Cage into the table, but Cage counters with a dropkick. This takes Rhino down long enough for Cage to climb the ropes and grab the bolt cutter. Cage goes to use the bolt cutter on Rhino, but Rhino is able to knock it out of his hands. Maverick Matt enters the ring and begins an assault on Rhino. With Bentley on the attack, Cage is able to climb up and grab the final item, the pair of chairs.
Winner of the Match: No contests as all items were removed from the poles.
Rhino is able to fight back and Gores Cage. Rhino grabs the straightjacket and gets Cage into it. Kazarian makes his way to the ring, sporting green hair, and attacks Rhino. Bentley joins in on the attack, but Rhino fights them both off and gores both Bentley and Kazarian, who went through the table. Rhino climbs the turnbuckle to scream some words a Cage, who has crawled up the entrance ramp, still bounded by the straightjacket.
A Samoa Joe/Kurt Angle training video montage is aired. The video shows both competitors training for their match at Genesis – Angle is doing weight training and Joe is seen sparing with someone in a ring. Finally, the Impact recap video is shown as Impact comes to a close.
Quick Results - AJ Styles defeats Chris Sabin by pin fall to win the X Division title - Ron “the Truth” Killings defeats Lance Hoyt by pin fall - Robert Roode defeats Christopher Daniels by pin fall - Rhino and Christian Cage battle to a no contest in the “Weapons or Escape Four-Corners Pole Match”
Match of the Night AJ Styles vs. Chris Sabin
Starman’s Thoughts I can’t say too much bad stuff about tonight’s show, other than the fact that four matches is one too many for a one-hour show. Overall, the tournament matches were fun to watch but all of them seemed to be a little rushed, especially the Lance Hoyt/Ron Killings match. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one caught off guard by the ending of that match.
The X Division Title match was probably one of the better matches I have seen on Impact in a long time. This was a good, fast paced, old style X Division match between two great X Division stars, although I would have liked to see Sabin with the title a little longer. I also wouldn’t have minded seeing this match go a few minutes longer – especially seeing that the match was to advance in the tournament and for the title.
Speaking of the tournament, it was nice to see some backstories being played out on top of the matches. We got to see some interaction between Styles and Sabin, in which it seems that Sabin will be making a much-needed turn in the future. Also, I was glad to see that they actually acknowledge the fact that Killings and Lance Hoyt were partners in the past. This is one of Russo’s specialties.
I can still remember the day that Russo started working with WCW. At the time, Nitro was known to have pointless matches, usually with luchadores or other lower-card talent, for no other reason than to kill time. When Russo came aboard, that all changed, and even the smallest of matches had some sort of point or reason to them. Lately, TNA had fallen into that trap of having useless matches just to give some talent a little bit of television time. Hopefully those days are over in TNA.
Finally, the Fight for the Right tournament heads into the semi-final round next week with AJ Styles, Ron Killings and Robert Roode facing each other in a 3-Way Collision match to decide who will face Abyss in the final round. My money is on AJ Styles to come out on top only to lose to Abyss in the finals. Why? Because this tournament was tailor made for Abyss from the start.
These are the LIVE SPOILERS from the TNA Impact tapings. One hour show to air November 9th followed by the two hour prime time debut show to air November 16th. Mike Tenay and Don West’s location has been spruced up for the move to 9pm. Several Spike TV executives sat near Dixie Carter and were introduced to the fans, mentioning a online Q&A on Spike’s website before the 11/16 show airs. Jeremy Borash and Dave Penzer did a great job of keeping the crowd energized for the entire taping.
Before the doors were opened America’s Most Wanted (“Tennessee Cowboy” James Storm and “Wildcat” Chris Harris) were signing for the fans when Konnan came out to confront them. Storm broke his beer over Konnan’s head as LAX (“Notorious 187” Homicide and Hotstuff Hernandez) came from behind and attacked AMW. After the brawl Harris was carried inside the building but Storm not. Hernandez threw Storm Border Toss style into a concrete wall and it left Storm motionless on the ground. Storm’s neck was immobilized by Universal medics and he was placed on a back brace awaiting the medics to arrive. We were taken into the soundstage at 6:30pm. I was told he might have hit the “funny bone” on the wall. Eventually he got his range of motion back and was part of the prime time portion of the show.
Hour one to air November 9th:
(1) In the semi-finals of the Fight for the Right tournament, World X Division champion “Phenomenal” AJ Styles (“Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels) defeated Robert Roode (w/Ms. Brooks) and Ron Killings (w/Lance Hoyt).
Once Killings stopped dancing the match began when Roode shot his mouth off and he got decked. Styles and Killings got rid of him to the floor. Styles went to go out but Roode pulled Brooks in the way causing Styles to land on the apron. That didn’t stop Killings who came out and over. Styles went in the ring and then over. The match came back to the ring where Roode avoided Killings forearm which decked Styles. Roode tossed Killings to the floor and focused on Styles’ left leg with a half crab. Killings broke that up with a top rope dropkick as Jerry Lynn, Sonjay Dutt, Jay Lethal and Chris Sabin looked on. Styles decked Roode with the Pele’ kick and went up top but Brooks cut him off. So Daniels and Hoyt dragged her off and dropped her into the crowd where she paint brushed a fan. While this went on Roode followed out to check on Brooks and missed Styles pin Killings with a slingshot cross bodyblock.
Shane Douglas came out and said he had a problem with Brother Ray of Team 3D. So out came Ray microphone in hand. Douglas said he put up with Ray’s crap and condescending attitude. Douglas called him out on the confrontation during the reverse battle royal. Ray said he was caught off guard at these comments. Ray said if anyone had a grudge it should be him, ten years back to a “stuttering problem” in Philly. Ray said Shane came out one night and smacked him for no reason. Ray said this wasn’t ten years ago and things have changed. Douglas said the Naturals weren’t resting on a legacy of a washed up company. Douglas decked Ray with a bike chain wrapped fist and The Naturals (Chase Stevens and Andy Douglas w/ “the Franchise” Shane Douglas) came out to defend Shane. They decked Ray and then threw him into a folding table. On screen we saw why Devon couldn’t come to his partner’s aid, he was under a guard rail which was over his neck. TNA security came out and helped Ray out of the ring.
(2) Petey Williams defeated “Hotshot” Johnny Devine and Austin Starr (w/Kevin Nash and Alex Shelley)
This was hard to keep up with so I am sorry if I missed some stuff. Starr avoided Williams and Devine’s lockup but didn’t avoid a knee to the face. Starr got on the offense briefly but Williams hit a facebreaker like move. Star went to knock Williams and Devine’s heads together but he got hit with a double backdrop and clothesline. Starr broke up the Canadian Destroyer but didn’t break up Devine’s moonsault onto Williams. Starr broke up the pin and kicked Devine in the face. Starr went up top but Shelley got up to talk or something. Starr’s crotch was met by Shelley’s head. This allowed Williams to hit Devine with the Canadian Destroyer.
As soon as the bell rang LAX hit the ring, telling Williams he was an immigrant too. Konnan invited him to a flag burning they would hold next week. Hernandez brought a half mannequin dressed like Uncle Sam. Konnan said the American flag stood for racism and he was going to defecate all over it before burning it.
(3) In the final match of the Fight for the Right tournament, Abyss (w/Father James Mitchell) defeated World X Division champion “Phenomenal” AJ Styles (w/“Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels).
In the history of TNA this is one of the most heated rivalries dating back to the Nashville/Tennessee PPV’s. Jerry Lynn and the trio mentioned before watched on again as Abyss showed off his strength advantage. Styles avoided a backdrop and hit a huricurana but couldn’t suplex Abyss so he hit a flying head scissor followed by a splash to the corner. But his corner move met Abyss’ boot. Abyss got a folding chair and wedged it in the second and top turnbuckle. Abyss decked Styles with a punch and set for a power bomb but Styles slid over the back. Abyss stopped the pin attempt by sling shotting Styles face first into the chair. Abyss followed with a corner splash of his own and went for Shock Treatment but Styles got out and went on the attack with punches and kicks. Abyss went for a corner splash but Styles went into Andrew Thomas and Abyss soon followed. Christian Cage came out and leveled both men with chair shots. Cage said the people were looking at the one true #1 contender to the NWA World championship. Thomas got to his feet and counted both men down. This brought out the other TNA referees to confer as spotlights flashed around the building. It looked like the match was going to be continued. Styles hit a top rope forearm but got two. Abyss grabbed him for a choke slam but Styles countered into a sunset flip for two. Abyss hit Shock Treatment as Mitchell came out with a bag of tacks but Daniels cut him off from handing the bag off. Andrew Thomas went out to break up Mitchell and Daniels. Styles hit another Pele’ and went for the Styles Clash when Chris Sabin ran in and decked Styles with a kick to the chest. This allowed Abyss to the hit the Black Hole Slam and become #1 contender. As Abyss’ hand was raised Sting looked on from the rafters of the soundstage.
In between shows Jeremy Borash and Christy Hemme passed out foam Sting bats and steel chairs to make the primetime event look super. This is possibly the crowning achievement in TNA I have witnessed going back to 2002’s taping in Huntsville, Alabama.
Hour two to air November 16th:
“Showtime” Eric Young and his entourage made their way in the venue as the pyro went off. It was followed by a shower of confetti that covered the entire building. Young said he wearing his suit lent to him by Uncle Leo. Young said he had an announcement for the fans but LAX interrupted him. Konnan was carrying an American flag on his shoulder as he ran down the immigration issues. He said he was going to deliver a message loud and clear to TNA and America. Before he got out the lighter AMW with Gail Kim, who fought with LAX and stopped the burning as security came out to join the incident. Guess Storm is ok and hell froze over as AMW got a huge ovation from the fans.
(1) Samoa Joe defeated Jay Lethal.
Joe jumped Lethal at the bell and the fight was on. Joe hit Lethal with his attack normal plan but he couldn’t avoid a slingshot dropkick. Nor the in ring dropkick to the face as the fans chanted for Kurt Angle. Joe didn’t like that so he hit Lethal with the standing STO before the Muscle Buster and the Kokina Clutch submission hold. After the match Sonjay Dutt decked Joe but he got hit with a powerslam and the Clutch. Chris Sabin ran out but left Dutt lying in the Kokina Clutch. Joe took the mic and said he wanted Joe’s blood.
(2) In a tag team tables The Naturals (Chase Stevens and Andy Douglas w/ “The Franchise” Shane Douglas) defeated Team 3D members Brother Ray and Devon.
The bell rang and the fight went right into the people where everything was used a weapons even signs the fans brought to the event. Ray tossed Andy Douglas in the ring and 3D hit the Wassup headbutt to the package. 3D went under the ring and got two tables. Shane saved Andy but he took a 3D into one of the tables. Stevens and Douglas got on the attack as TNA officials cleared Shane Douglas out of the ring. The Naturals won when they double teamed Devon into a table but kept beating on them after the bell rang several times. Finally after decking several security team members, the Naturals left to a chorus of boos. It took several minutes to get the ring clear of security and Team 3D who left on their own power.
“Showtime” Eric Young was talked into coming out to the soundstage again to make his announcement. But once the crowd stopped chanting “Don’t Fire Eric”, Young was interrupted by Johnny Devine, Frankie Kazarian and Matt Bentley in some rather interesting attire. Kazarian said their redeemer had shown them the way. Just when things got interesting they were interrupted by the newly named Voodoo Kin Mafia (Kip and BG James.) BG said they had creative control and permission to do what they wanted. BG said they were declaring war on Vince McMahon, Michael Hickenbottom and Paul Levesque. Kip said 8 years ago those two guys started a group but they weren’t allowed to be part of it, now its back and sinking like the Titanic. Kip called them the two biggest pieces of sh** but BG got the mic away before it got on the air. The crowd chanted you said sh**. BG said they were serious about the declaration of war on Vinny Mac calling the war VKM vs. VKM.
(3) In the Six Sides of Steel Barbwire match, “Captain Charisma” Christian Cage defeated “War Machine” Rhino.
The top of the cage was wrapped with barbwire. Cage’s wife sat ringside with Dixie Carter. Don Harris and his crew did an amazing job getting the cage up and down in fast time. There wasn’t a referee inside so I guess it’s over the top or through the door to win. After trading fists Rhino hit a backdrop and tried to send Cage into the fencing but it was blocked. Chest chops broke out and Cage countered out of a press slam into an inverted DDT. Cage’s chairs were slid into the ring but Rhino hit two shoulder tackles to the corner. Cage stopped a third one by trying to scale the fencing but cut his hand on the barbwire. Rhino rammed Cage’s face into the fencing several times and it made Cage bloody. Rhino got the key from his Tupperware box and taunted Cage with it. Rhino tossed the key out and sling shotted Cage into the fencing twice. Cage got in a crotch shot, with a cage toss and called for the bolt cutters which he hit Rhino with several times to the back. With Rhino down Cage climbed up and began to cut away at the barbs. Rhino started to come around as Cage continued to cut away. Cage came down and punched Rhino a few times before going back to cut more wire. Rhino went up to get Cage but got sent to the mat where Cage hit a frog splash. Cage began to climb up once more and got a leg over the fencing when Rhino caught up to him. Rhino forced Cage’s face into the cut away barbwire before hitting a top rope back suplex. Rhino got to his feet and grabbed the straight jacket but Cage punched away sending Rhino to the mat again. Cage went back up top to the area he cut away and again Rhino caught him. Both men fought but it was Cage who came off with a top rope Unprettier! Cage grabbed the straight jacket and tried to put it on Rhino as the “War Machine” fought back. Cage got the sleeves attached to the top rope and he called for his folding chairs to be tossed in the ring. Rhino got a leg into Cage’s package and somehow got his arms free of the top rope. He hit several moves and got the jacket off after a spinebuster. Rhino set Cage up for a chairscendo but Cage moved and hit Rhino in the ribs with the chair. Cage set the chairs up for a Unprettier but Rhino countered into a TKO which dropped Cage’s ribs on the top of the chair. Rhino went for the GORE but Cage tossed a chair into him, but it was caught and Rhino smashed Cage in the head. Rhino went for and hit the GORE!!! However he sent Cage through the door of the cage and Christian Cage was declared the winner.
(4) “Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels became World X Division champion when he defeated “Phenomenal” AJ Styles vs. “the Future” Chris Sabin.
Before the opening bell Styles and Daniels shook hands. Styles and Daniels were jumped by Sabin. Daniels hit Sabin with a neckbreaker like move and dropped Styles on top, or was it the other way. Daniels and Styles hit Sabin with the High/Lo move but he avoided a backdrop, hitting a double enziguri. Sabin ripped away at Styles’ face and locked in a surfboard which Daniels stopped, but Sabin raked his eyes. Styles went up and avoided Sabin, hitting Daniels with an inverted DDT and Sabin with a regular one. Styles hit Daniels with a sitout facebuster but Sabin broke up the pin. Sabin countered a corner whip and hit Daniels with an inverted DDT for two. Sabin went for a superplex but Styles brought them down with a power bomb. Christian Cage came out to ringside and said he was still undefeated and he was dropkicked by Styles to the floor. As Styles went after Cage, Daniels countered out of Sabin’s Cradle Shock and scored a pin. Styles realized what happened and came back to the ring where, after talking, raised Daniels hand.
(5) In his TNA match debut, Kurt Angle defeated Abyss (w/Father James Mitchell)
The noise was super loud for Angle’s entrance to the Impact Zone. After backing Angle to a corner Angle slapped Abyss across the face. Angle went to the ropes but ran into the wall known as Abyss. Angle got a single leg takedown and went after Abyss’ left knee joint. Abyss refused to submit and powered out of an Ankle Lock. Abyss punched Angle several times and hit a corner whip but the splash attempt met an elbow and Angle clipped out Abyss’ leg. Angle went back to the knee joint with another submission hold but Abyss raked Angle’s eyes. Abyss sent Angle chest first to a corner and hit Shock Treatment. Mitchell left and came back with a wheel barrel full of thumbtacks. Abyss sent Angle to the floor as the crowd booed. Mitchell whispered in Abyss’ ear. Angle slid off Abyss’ shoulder and smashed Abyss’ head on the ringposts. Abyss raked the eyes again and sent Angle back into the ring where hit a standing suplex for two. Abyss clamped on a neckvise but Angle got to his feet so Abyss switched to a chinlock. Angle escaped with a back suplex and both men tried to beat Rudy Charles’ count. Angle got off his Olympic German suplex trio but his Olympic Slam became a Black Hole Slam for two and a half. Abyss went for the choke slam but Angle countered into an Ankle Lock. Abyss fought for the ropes but Angle pulled him back to the middle of the ring. Abyss had the bottom rope for a second but Angle dragged again and sat down in the Ankle Lock to get the submission victory.
Once the match ended Samoa Joe hit the ring. Angle hit a Belly to Belly suplex. Joe hit an enziguri and went for the Kokina Clutch only to have Angle get the Ankle Lock. Joe escaped, got a chair and leveled Angle. Joe tossed angle back in the ring where Abyss was standing. Joe gestured and Abyss joined in stomping on Angle. The arena got dark and Sting descended from the rafters. Abyss went to confront him but Sting jumped off the platform he came down on and sent Abyss crashing into the tacks below. As Sting and Abyss fought away from ringside, Joe got to his feet and put Angle in the Ankle Lock. After a moment or three, Joe released the hold and locked in the Kokina Clutch on the bloodied Olympic champion. When Joe released the hold he took Angle’s blood and smeared it on his chest.
The following matches were taped for TNA Xplosion/Global Impact:
(1) “Showtime” Eric Young defeated Robert Roode (w/Ms. Brooks) with his version of the Last Rites I think called the Margin Call (sorry Robert) but Slick Mark Johnson said he saw Brooks grab Young’s leg and restated the match. When it restarted Young rolled up Roode for the win.
(2) Ron “the Truth” Killings defeated Alex Shelley (w/ the Austin Starr) via pinfall. After the match Killings rapped along to his theme music as Shelley and Starr exchanged words over the match. Lance Hoyt joined his tag team partner for some breakdancing.
After the show the fans were treated to a meet and greet with the locker room.
Announced and guessed matches for the Genesis PPV:
***NWA World Heavyweight champion Sting vs. “the Fight for your Right” winner Abyss (w/Father James Mitchell)
***NWA World Tag Team champions NWA World Tag Team champions Latin American Xchange (“Notorious 187” Homicide and Hotstuff Hernandez w/Konnan) vs. America’s Most Wanted (“Tennessee Cowboy” James Storm and “Wildcat” Chris Harris w/Gail Kim)
***Samoa Joe vs. Kurt Angle
***World X Division champion “Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels vs. “Phenomenal” AJ Styles or “the Future” Chris Sabin
***Team 3D (Ray and Devon) vs. the Naturals (Chase Stevens and Andy Douglas w/ “the Franchise” Shane Douglas)
Wow Chris Daniels again...?!?!?!? And Sting Vs. Abyss I'm not excited...
These are the LIVE SPOILERS for the next three weeks of TNA IMPACT on Spike TV. By the end of these shows we should have a good idea of the matches for the Turning Point PPV to be held December 9th. Plus we see what happens to the NWA World Tag Team championships recently held by Latin American Xchange after Jim Cornette stripped them of the belts last night on PPV, what the VKM have planned next for VKM and pals and if Kurt Angle will accept Samoa Joe’s rematch request. The sign of the night was a fan in the disabled section that read “I Work Harder Then Vince McMahon” on one side and “I Want More Then Vince McMahon” on the other. Like the last taping David Penzer and Jeremy Borash did an excellent job keeping the fans pumped up for the duration of the show.
Hour one taping results:
The new NWA World Heavyweight champion Abyss (w/Father James Mitchell) made their way to the ring. Mitchell said he was a proud parent after last night’s PPV. He said he tried to tell Sting to “laugh with the sinners then cry with the saints.” Mitchell said deep down inside Sting was no different then them after what he did last night. He said Sting was still wallowing in the riches that come with the belt and he walked down the highway to hell and Sting should come home for good. That brought Sting into the Impact Zone. At least he looked like the former champion, wearing a mask. Abyss and Mitchell sought higher ground as the fans sat in confusion when Christian Cage was the revealed masked man. Cage said this is what he had to resort to get his deserved title shot, dress like a complete moron. Cage said he wasn’t waiting for Sting to invoke the rematch clause. Hypothetically he asked if Sting didn’t make it to turning Point what would happen to the rematch. This brought the real Sting from the rafters. Sting said he was going to get his rematch with Abyss tonight by mowing down Cage tonight. Cage said he could care about Sting’s mood he only cared about himself and his title shot he deserved.
As the opening match was brought to the ring Eric Young walked around dressed in turkey costume.
(1) “Phenomenal” AJ Styles and World X Division champion “Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels defeated The Naturals (Chase Stevens and Andy Douglas w/ “The Franchise” Shane Douglas.)
This was interesting because before the shows David Penzer said this was the LAST time Styles/Daniels would be teaming. Like last night the Naturals jumped their opponents before the bell and briefly double teamed Daniels before Earl Hebner got the teams to their corners. That didn’t work because Daniels slid into the ring and Stevens dropkicked Styles to the floor. The Naturals isolated Daniels and kept sending Styles back to the floor. But Styles got some revenge by hitting them with a top rope clothesline. They hit Douglas with their High/Lo move before sending Stevens to the floor. The match ended with Styles hitting Douglas with the Frog Splash and Daniels hitting the BME. Rhino came out to the ring as Senshi, Alex Shelley and the Austin Starr stood together on the ramp as Jerry Lynn stood with Sonjay Dutt and Jay Lethal. It looked like Rhino was trying to talk with Styles who wanted nothing from the “War Machine” and stormed off alone.
Eric Young came over to the announce table and said something to Mike Tenay and Don West before they sent it to the backstage area.
When the commercials ended the public face of TNA Mr. Jim Cornette made his way into the ring to get the NWA World Tag Team title belts from LAX. But before that Cornette asked Petey Williams to come to the ring. Williams said even though he had issues with the fans in the past but he had an opportunity to stop the destruction of the American flag. Cornette had a rigging lowered so they could hang the American flag but LAX hit the ring with the title belts still in their possession. Konnan had a lawyer with him who served some papers to Cornette saying TNA violated their 1st amendment rights. Williams served Konnan a right hand to the jaw. After LAX beat down Williams they went for Cornette but America’s Most Wanted (“Tennessee Cowboy” James Storm and “Wildcat” Chris Harris w/Gail Kim) and then Kurt Angle came out to clear the ring. As LAX/AMW, Cornette and Williams left Samoa Joe came to the ring. Joe was reminded he tapped out by the fans. Joe said he did tap out but the fans forget he was undefeated for 18 months. Joe said inevitably someone would have their hand raised against him. He said he lost to a man who has been a champion in wrestling around the world. But it was one night and he wanted a rematch. Joe handed the mic to Angle and we all waited. Angle told the fans and Joe he was the true submission machine and he made him fight for his life. Angle said the rematch happens only if nothing happens to each of them before Turning Point. So Angle and Joe have to be each other’s bodyguards.
Eric Young came back out to be with the fans still in the turkey outfit. His fun was interrupted by Robert Roode and Ms. Brooks. The fans chanted please don’t talk as Roode called Young an idiot and an embarrassment to wrestling. Roode demanded a rematch with Young and it looked like Young accepted.
(2) “Showtime” Eric Young defeated Robert Roode (w/Ms. Brooks).
Roode didn’t let Young get to the ring before he attacked. Young didn’t discard the turkey outfit as Roode went on the warpath. Roode dropped Young in the top rope but Young fought back and missed a moonsault. Roode said he was going to break Young’s neck with a piledriver but Young scored a double leg pin. Roode took the mic and lambasted Brooks for his losses in the ring and the fans not loving him. Before leaving Roode said he felt Young could beat Brooks in a bikini contest.
For the main event Jim Cornette joined Tenay and West for commentary.
(3) In a number one contender match, Sting and “Captain Charisma” Christian Cage fought to a no contest.
The fans received a PPV match on national TV. Sting came from behind and jumped Cage tossing him into the fans. They fought up into and down by the Pit area of the crowd. After slamming Cage into a wall Sting sent Cage back into the ring where the beating continued. Sting tossed Cage back to the floor this time by the announce table where Cage was suplexed. Cage finally got on the offense with a missile dropkick for two. Cage laid in the right hands to Sting’s face as the fans chanted Christian Sucks. But as Cage mocked the fans he allowed Sting to get fired up. Sting hit a clothesline, backdrop but his press slam to the floor was stopped by referee Andrew Thomas. Thomas got in the action when Sting hit him with the Stinger Splash when Cage pulled him in front to save his butt. Not to be stopped Sting locked in the Scorpion Death Lock but it was broken up by TYSON TOMKO!!! Tomko hit Sting with a Torture Rack into a neckbreaker as Cage’s music played.
As Borash got in the ring to hand out DVD’s we got to see part of the video from VKM’s trip to Stamford, CT. BG and Kip James verbally ran down their enemies in the WWE. However Kip’s in-car GPS took them to a Target store not the target which was WWE HQ. Finally they found WWE HQ and said they were back. Borash said due to legal reason new could only see that segment. I think we shall be seeing it on prime time TV.
Hour two taping results:
“Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels joined Tenay and West for commentary during the following match. The trio was interrupted by “Wildcat” Chris Harris but we have no idea what he said.
(1) In a number one contenders match, “The Future” Chris Sabin defeated Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt.
Dutt and Lethal took several turns beating up Sabin before focusing on each other. Sabin went for a slingshot move but Lethal got him with an STO into a backbreaker for two. Lethal avoided a Dutt slingshot move and hit a full nelson suplex for a pin but Sabin tossed Lethal to the floor and pinned Dutt to become the winner. Sabin and Daniels had heated words as Jerry Lynn tried to get cooler heads to prevail.
“Captain Charisma” Christian Cage and Tomko made their way into the Impact Zone. Cage decided to make a formal introduction of the man who made a good impression on Sting, Tomko. Cage said TNA was putting him into a triple threat match at Turning Point to regain his title. Cage said it would become a single threat match as he was going to take out his opponent’s tonight. Cage said he wanted to talk to Abyss and the champion came out with Father James Mitchell. But when it looked like Abyss and Mitchell were going to talk with Cage, a Sting mannequin descended from the roof. As Cage and Tomko looked at the mannequin, Sting came from behind. Sting sung the bat and missed Tomko as Cage bailed out. Sting said he wanted to talk to Abyss, alone. Guess it would be later on as Mitchell and Abyss left together.
(2) Ron “the Truth” Killings and Lance Hoyt defeated the Austin Starr and Alex Shelley.
All four men fought in the ring at the bell but it was Hoyt and Killings who took over when Hoyt kicked Starr .in the face. Killings hit a tope to the floor onto his opponents and sent Starr into Hoyt. But Hoyt missed a boot to the corner. Starr went up but Shelley tagged himself in. Starr and Killings fought on the floor as Shelley countered out of Hoyt’s attempted TKO into a pin but Shelley used the tights. Andrew Thomas counted the pin but reversed the decision when he found out what happened out of his eye line.
A new interviewer named Leticia tried to interview Petey Williams when LAX jumped his ass. Konnan said Angle would be competing by himself tonight.
(3) NWA World Tag Team champions Latin American Xchange (“Notorious 187” Homicide and Hotstuff Hernandez w/Konnan) fought Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe to a no contest.
Homicide paid tribute to the West Coast hip hop legends NWA by wearing one of their shirts. Angle backed Hernandez to a corner and pie faced him. Angle got sent to the mat on a shoulder tackle but he sent Hernandez there with a belly to belly suplex. Homicide got hit with a Tilt-A-While slam but the numbers game began to get to Angle. That ended when Samoa Joe came out and got in a corner for a tag. LAX kept beating on Angle until angle got out of a chinlock with a back suplex. Angle tagged out to Joe and the fight was on. It looked like Joe and Angle won via tap out but Cornette and the LAX lawyer came down to the announce table. Cornette ruled the match a no contest because Joe was not signed as Angle’s partner so LAX retains via no contest.
JB got in the ring and asked the fans to pick an entry way for a special guest. They chose the doorway that had Christy Hemme with some DVD’s for the fans to enjoy.
Sting made his way back to the ring carrying his bat and a folding chair. Sting called for Abyss to come out to the ring and he was granted the NWA World Heavyweight champion’s time. Abyss refused the chair offered to him by Sting. Sting said he had seen Abyss fight through ladders, tacks, barbwire and other items to win the belt. Sting said Abyss’ past didn’t matter only the present. He wanted to know why Abyss allowed James Mitchell to drag him around. Sting even called Abyss by his real first name, Chris. Mitchell appeared on the screen and said if Sting felt Abyss was evil he needed to look at himself. Sting said Abyss can make his own choice and left the ring. Just as Sting left Tomko and Christian Cage came in and leveled Abyss. Tomko hit the Torture Rack/neckbreaker move on Abyss. They split when Sting came back out. Sting offered his hand to Abyss but Mitchell came back out to the ring. Mitchell smacked Sting on the face and left with Abyss.
Hour three taping results:
“The War Machine” Rhino came out to talk to the fans. Rhino said if AJ Styles wanted to make threats it wasn’t good because it pissed him off last week. Rhino said if Styles wanted a problem he should come out to the ring. Instead of Styles we had Christopher Daniels came out to talk to Rhino. Daniels said he appreciated Rhino’s concern and he should stay out of things. But as Rhino looked one way AJ Styles attacked and the duo had to be pulled apart by TNA security.
JB was talking to the fans when “Showtime” Eric Young came out wearing workout gear. It looked like Young was doing some cardio running.
(1) Petey Williams defeated NWA World Tag Team champion “Notorious 187” Homicide (w/Konnan and Hotstuff Hernandez).
This began with some chain wrestling but got hard hitting when Homicide hit an Acecrusher. Williams countered out of a Tilt-A-Whirl into a Canadian legsweep. Williams went for the Canadian Destroyer but Homicide countered into the Cop Killer only to be countered into a sunset flip like pin. This didn’t sit well with LAX as Hernandez hit the ring and Border Tossed Williams. America’s Most Wanted hit the ring and took out LAX, leaving with their Mexican flag their possession.
(2) Senshi defeated “Showtime” Eric Young.
Young looked like he needed a nap after his cardio workout, too bad he was going to get one from Senshi. Senshi got tired of waiting for Young to stop running around the ring so he decked him on the floor. Senshi kept on the attack with some martial arts moves which stunned Young who tried to fight back with punches. The punches seemed to briefly stun Senshi as Robert Roode and Ms. Brooks came out to ringside. Brooks got on the ring apron and distracted Young with her sexy body. It allowed Senshi to hit the Warrior’s Way top rope move to win.
Mr. Jim Cornette came to the ring for a special announcement regarding the LAX/AMW confrontations. Cornette said a flag match would take place at Turning Point. He was interrupted by “Captain Charisma” Christian Cage and Tomko. Cage said he noticed Cornette was too busy stopping 1st amendment rights when he should be doing a background check on Abyss. Cage was interrupted by the NWA World champion who hit the ring and both men. They were able to turn the tables on Abyss when Sting came out sending Cage/Tomko running locker room. Just when Sting thought he got Abyss to join his side he got hit with a Black Hole Slam.
(3) In a TNA No Mercy All-Star War, Kurt Angle defeated “Captain Charisma” Christian Cage (w/Tomko), NWA World Heavyweight champion Abyss (w/Father James Mitchell), “War Machine” Rhino, Samoa Joe and Sting
Before the action began Styles attacked Rhino and they fought to the locker room. The match began with Angle and Cage squaring off and Angle hiptossed him before delivering forearm shots. Angle wrapped up Cage in a waistlock but Cage got to his feet only to be hit with a belly to belly suplex. Cage was taken again to the mat with a chinlock before switching to a body scissor. Tomko went to interfere but Joe sent him back to the floor. Cage got to his feet again and raked Angle eyes tagging in Abyss. Abyss hit Angle with Shock Treatment but Joe stopped the pin hitting a powerslam. Sting got involved and clotheslined Abyss to the floor. Cage’s Unprettier on Joe was blocked and Joe went for the Muscle Buster. Tomko came in and decked Joe with a kick. He dropped Cage on top but angle broke up the pin. Angle sent Cage to the floor and he was left alone with Joe. Angle and Joe looked like they were going to walk out on the match when Angle hit the Olympic slam to win the match.
Matches taped for Xplosion and Global Impact:
(1) Senshi defeated Brother Runt when he hit the top rope Warrior’s Way foot stomp.
(2) “The Future” Chris Sabin defeated Jay Lethal when he hit the Cradle Shock after a well placed heel kick to Lethal’s weapon.
(3) Ron “the Truth” Killings and Lance Hoyt defeated The Naturals (Chase Stevens and Andy Douglas w/ “the Franchise” Shane Douglas) when Killings hit Stevens with the Scissor Kick.
Announced and guessed matches for Turning Point PPV:
***NWA World Heavyweight champion Abyss (w/Father James Mitchell) vs. Sting vs. “Captain Charisma” Christian Cage (w/Tomko)
***Samoa Joe vs. Kurt Angle
***World X Division champion “Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels vs. “the Future” Chris Sabin
***In a flag match, NWA World Tag Team champions Latin American Xchange (“Notorious 187” Homicide and Hotstuff Hernandez w/Konnan) vs. America’s Most Wanted (“Tennessee Cowboy” James Storm and “Wildcat” Chris Harris w/Gail Kim)
According the SKY EPG, there is a double bill of Imapct on Bravo 2 tomorrow night because they screwed up last week and didn't show the correct epsiode.
That means we should get both last week's and this week's episodes tomorrow.
These are the LIVE SPOILERS for the final TNA TV taping before Sacrifice. Former WWE Tough Enough 2 competitor Hawk was in attendance along with Sean Waltman and family. Let's find out what happened tonight.
Hour one news and notes:
The show was opened by the arrival of the one and only Sting into the Impact Zone. He didn't even get in the ring as Kurt angle attacked him with a chair. TNA black shirt security hit the ring to break them up. Both were given microphones and they argued about the end of last week's match between Sting and NWA World Heavyweight champion ?Instant Classic? Christian Cage who also came out to the Impact Zone or at least his music played. Instead Sting and Angle brawled around the ring again and the black shirts hit the ring since the referee's were no match for the two high strung former world champions. Finally the champ hit the Impact Zone to a babyface pop. Cage wanted everyone to get along. He felt being the humanitarian he wanted Sting to team up with Angle to face ?the Instant Classic? and ?the Phenomenal? AJ Styles. The person who scores the pin in the NO DQ match would get the title shot, but if their team lost both of them lost their shot at Sacrifice. Sting said he already had the title shot and didn?t need the match. I think Angle asked Sting if he was an icon or a pussy before they cut to the backstage area.
Leticia interviewed NWA World Tag Team champions Team 3D (Ray and Devon) about their match tonight with Samoa Joe and Rhino.
(1) The match up of NWA World Tag Team champions Team 3D (Ray and Devon) vs. Samoa Joe and ?War Machine? Rhino ended in a no contest.
LAX didn?t join Mike Tenay and Don West for commentary this week but their fans chanted 3D sucks several times. Team 3D began by working over Rhino but Joe tagged into face Ray and the two men had an excellent exchange of power moves where nothing was resolved. Things broke down as Joe hit Devon with a Samoan Drop, Ray hit Joe with the Bubba Bomb. But when it looked like someone was going for a pin ?Fallen Angel? Christopher Daniels hit the ring and the competitors with a baseball bat. Too bad he didn?t hit Joe who locked him in the Kokina Clutch. All four men got in a shot and the fun ended when Rhino hit the GORE into a folding table propped in a corner.
Jeremy Borash spoke to NWA World Heavyweight champion ?Instant Classic? Christian Cage and ?the Phenomenal? AJ Styles, who wasn?t too happy Cage volunteered him for a NO DQ match. Cage tried to kiss Styles? butt a little saying if they eliminate Sting and Angle Styles would be #1 contender.
Back from commercial Mike Tenay and Don West spoke to the home viewers. Robert Roode (carrying his RRI business plan) and Ms. Brooks (sporting a neck brace) made their way into the Impact Zone with tons of egg on their face after last week?s announcement that Jeff Jarrett was Eric Young?s friend. Needless to say Roode was not a happy joy-joy person. He called for Young to come out to the ring so he could be fired in front of everyone in the Impact Zone. But instead of Eric Young, Roode got TNA Management?s Jim Cornette who told the fans Jeff Jarrett was not in attendance. He said the only people who deserved to be fired were Roode and his ?flotation floozy.? Cornette said when Eric Young signed the RRI deal he breached his TNA deal but Roode was guilty of tampering (I feel like I am on an episode of Law and Order) so Cornette wanted the whole thing dropped. Roode said he was firing Young whether Cornette liked it nor not and shoved Cornette down. This brought out Eric Young who cleaned Roode?s clock for a moment but when he went to get Jeff Jarrett?s guitar Roode was waiting. Too bad for Roode, Young knew what was coming and he fought back. But when Young went to clock Roode and Brooks with the guitar, Roode hit a chop block to Young?s knees (15 yard penalty in an NFL game.) Roode used the cuffs he stole from ?Wildcat? Chris Harris to lock Young in a corner, where he berated him on the mic before using the guitar on Young?s head. Cornette recovered enough to talk on the mic and said instead of firing Roode he was going to have to face Jeff Jarrett at Sacrifice.
Tenay and West spoke to the home viewers once more.
(2) In a Lockdown rematch with Street Fight rules, Gail Kim defeated ?the Pride of Tennessee? Jacqueline Moore (carrying a bullrope).
Kim wasted no time and leveled Moore with a cookie sheet to the head. The fight went to the floor where Kim?s ribs met the ringside guard rail and then she was slammed to the rampway for a one count. Kim threw Moore back in the ring and went shopping under the ring for garbage can, kendo stick (possibly borrowed from Kahagas) and the can ended up on Moore?s upper body as Kim swung it like Sammy Sosa. Kim must have been watching the best of AMW because she tossed baby powder into Moore?s face. Next she choked out Moore with a bar but the last blow came when Moore?s attempted chair shot was kicked back in her face for the pin. The fun really began when ?Tennessee Cowboy? James Storm came out to help Moore exact some revenge on Kim. The bad part for Storm was the fully healed ?Wildcat? Chris Harris also came out to the ring to fight. After the match some officials needed a moment to search in the ring for two of Moore?s front teeth which were knocked out during the match.
Tenay and West did another chat with the home viewers. Between commercials they were joined by Jim Cornette for commentary.
(3) In a NO DQ match, Sting and Kurt Angle defeated NWA World Heavyweight champion ?Instant Classic? Christian Cage and ?the Phenomenal? AJ Styles.
It may have been NO DQ but referee Rudy Charles made the match begin as a normal tag team match with angle squaring off with Angle and the two men traded punches and forearms but Angle got a takeover slam before tagging in Sting. Sting promptly dropkicked Cage and press slammed him over his head, threatening to toss him to the floor onto Styles. Styles and Cage got control by grabbing Sting?s legs and dragging him right into the ring post, making Sting?s lower abdominal area not feel so well. Cage and Styles tagged several times working over Sting as Angle was forced to watch on even though NO DQ was the rules for the bout. Sting fought off defeat several times and was finally able to get Angle into the match and he delivered several German suplexes. Sting hit a double Stinger splash and then hit Cage with the Scorpion Death Drop but Angle stopped the pin. They hit Styles with a double Rock Bottom but Cage hit both of them with chair shots. Styles got a chair but their chairscendo backfired as Angle moved and sent Cage to the floor. Both men got Styles to tap out to an Ankle Lock. This caused Cornette to exit the broadcast table to ask Charles which man got the submission victory. Charles said both men got the win so Cornette decreed at the PPV Cage would have to defend in a three way match.
In between shows Jeremy Borash introduced someone from the TV show Heroes (which airs on NBC and mentioned TNA Mobile was now fully active.
Hour two news and notes:
(1) LAX?s ?Notorious 187? Homicide defeated Team 3D?s Devon and ?Big Poppa Pump? Scott Steiner.
Everyone minus Steiner came to the ring with their partner or manager who remained at ringside. Homicide tried to talk Steiner into working together but Steiner refused and kept trying to order Homicide around. They hit Devon with a suplex and chest chops as Ray could only watch on. Devon tried to fight back but Steiner hit a belly to belly suplex for two. Steiner placed Devon in the Tree of Woe so more punishment could be inflicted. Homicide was hit by a Steiner Tilt-A-Whirl slam for two as Devon recovered in a corner. Devon got back in the match hitting Steiner with a shot then hit Homicide with a Sky High Slam for two as Steiner fought on the floor with Ray. Machete got the referee?s attention long enough for Hernandez to hit Devon with the Border Toss help to win the match for Homicide. After the match Ray and Steiner traded chair shots and fought to the locker room.
Tenay and West talked on camera to the home viewers. Christy Hemme and the Voodoo Kin Mafia (Kip and BG James) came out the ring but the team formerly called the Bashams hit the ring and attacked the VKM. Hemme introduced them as Basham and Damaja. Lance Hoyt came out and the trio hit the bricks. Tenay and West spoke on camera possibly talking about what went down in the ring.
(2) World X Division champion ?the Future? Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley defeated Sonjay Dutt and ?Black Machismo? Jay Lethal.
As Dutt and Lethal came out you could see Dutt was still not amused by the transformation Lethal underwent courtesy of Kevin Nash. Shelley didn?t look amused either as he faced off with Lethal to open the match where Lethal hit some ?Macho Man? like moves. Dutt stood in his corner and watched as Lethal was hit with several double team moves. Lethal survived and tagged out to Dutt who was energized, clearing the ring. Dutt hit Sabin Sliced Bread #2 and Lethal went up top ready to hit the elbow drop but Dutt picked up Sabin. The referee put out Lethal out of the ring and it allowed Shelley to hit Dutt with Emeral Frosion to win. After the match Bob Backland came out and attacked Sabin and Shelley possibly for the recent Paparazzi Productions video where Sabin and Shelley attacked Backland, who walks from the TNA hotel to Universal Studios for the tapings. .
(3) In a NO DQ battle, ?the Phenomenal? AJ Styles, ?Fallen Angel? Christopher Daniels and ?Tennessee Cowboy? James Storm (w/ ?Pride of Tennessee? Jacqueline Moore minus two teeth) defeated ?Wildcat? Chris Harris (w/Gail Kim), ?War Machine? Rhino and Samoa Joe
Storm wearing his hat squared off with Joe and quickly had it pulled over his eyes. Joe tagged in Harris and Storm quickly got out tagging in Styles who got suplexed by Harris as Joe made a blind tag. Rhino tagged in to inflict a beating on Styles with great fury. That ended when Styles distracted the referee and Daniels knocked Rhino off the top turnbuckle and down to the floor. Rhino got back in the ring where Daniels was waiting to attack .Daniels and teammates tagged out to wear out Rhino as the crowd cheered him on. Storm made a mental error and it allowed Rhino to tag out to Harris. Tags didn?t matter anymore as all six competitors got in the ring to fight. Storm and Harris remained in the ring where Moore tried to toss the beer bottle into Storm but landed in Harris? hand. Harris was ready to deck his old partner but Storm grabbed the referee and stopped the shot. In the end Storm won via rollup and a huge hand full of tights. The fighting was not done as Harris chased Storm in the crowd behind the announcers. Their fighting ended as Harris backdropped Storm off and down to the concrete floor below.
After that fight ended, Sting and Angle fought their way into the Impact Zone with Christian Cage watched on from a safe distance. Finally TNA referees and black shirt security broke them up. Angle said on the house mic come Sacrifice Sting?s ass was his.
Matches taped for Xplosion:
(1) Robert Roode (w/Ms. Brooks) defeated Sonjay Dutt. After the match Roode took the mic to tell the fans he was going to make an example out of Dutt but Eric Young and guitar came to the rescue.
(2) ?Black Machismo? Jay Lethal defeated LAX?s ?Notorious 187? Homicide (minus the rest of LAX).
That title match takes up the entire episode this week. It ran for about 35 minutes live so with ring intros and what have you, that is the whole show.
To be fair I think he's not ready for it. He's OK with the number 2 belt but a run with the big one and carrying the company on his shoulders not yet. I don't think he's as popular as the internet dfanboys think he is. Look at what happened to people who the WWE put the belt on who weren't ready... Cena, Orton, Big Dave. They sucked at it and are (Apart from Orton now) Despised by the fan base.
No, Joe is ready for the belt and he proved it by carrying ROH for two years as champ.
Sadly, the fact that TNA have held off for so long means that when it happens it will be an anti-climax and then they will probably botch his title run with the lousy booking he has been "tripping over" lately...
For those of you who want to know the contents of the cases....
Spoiler
Christopher Daniels gets fired, as he has the case that has a pink slip. Steiner gets an X division shot, BG James gets a tag shot and Petey gets a world title shot
If you ask me, the only one that I could have predicted was BG getting a Tag Title shot.
Is there a story behind why they fired Daniels? He's been there since the beginning, and was one of the only REAL talents over in TNA. Steiner should have been fired, as I am tired of him. Why in the world would they give him an X title shot? And why would they give Petey a world title shot?
Ugh...I am tired of TNA. They make so many stupid moves that it is funny. But guess what? I'll keep watching!

They had better sort out the Daniels thing soon because he's representing TNA at the Tokyo Dome against New Japan on January 4th in a match that will air on TNA special in the US.
BTW - the script for the 3/01/07 episode of Impact has been leaked online in pdf format (Adobe Acrobat is needed)...and you can download HERE!
Again, why in the world did they fire Daniels? He is one of the only really talented guys in TNA. They should really stop signing all of these former WWE guys and finally start to develop some of their own talent (Daniels, Styles, Joe, Kaz, Lethal, Petey, etc)...

Who knows? But when you have Russo booking common sense and logic go out the window.
It beggars belief that when Senshi took the opportunity to leave why they didn't just fire him on air instead. Unless of course, this is Russo booking to swerve the Net fans which - as usual - is counterproductive!
Yeah, Russo is an idiot. He's never been that great of a mind. He's always been a big name, but he has never made very many good decisions. Ask him how the New Blood thing worked in WCW!

Just to show how much TNA do not rip off WWE gimmicks especially for those who were formerly employed by said company, Daivari is now called Sheik Abdul Bashir and his gimmick is that he is a mega rich Arab American who is constantly discriminated against by his fellow Americans despite being as American as they are.
This boggles my mind, but the word making the rounds is that TNA will begin a LAX breakup at this week's Impact tapings. I can't imagine the upside to splitting your signature team, but it certainly looks to be the direction the company is taking.
Hopefully the Spoiler I posted above may not happen after all according to PWInsider.com:
Spoiler
Yesterday, I reported that the word going around was that TNA planned to begin a split for LAX at the Impact tapings this week. Since I wrote about the plans, numerous TNA sources have stated the team is not being broken up, with one even pointing out that LAX has the top selling t-shirt in the company.
I do know the LAX split was pretty big subject of conversation about what an insane idea it would be in the last few days. It could be that TNA planned to tease a breakup as part of a storyline before putting the team back together, but it was absolutely talked about.
Given the way TNA sources reacted to my report, one has to wonder if plans were changed. I guess we'll see when TNA starts taping TV the next two evenings.
TNA have decided wisely to capitalise on the recent success of the Knockouts division by releasing a new DVD with interviews and some of their best matches.
Unfortunately their choice of cover star leaves a lot to be desired....
In other news: Kevin Nash has said the he talked to Vince McMahon about a return to WWE during his current contract negotiations with TNA but didn't agree to anything because Vince wanted Nash to dye his hair!!
But Nash Dyed his hairfor The Punisher....? Anyway, I'd hope that the WWE would not bring Nash back in. What on earth could he bring to the current WWE that seem to be finally pushing some of the younger stars as the new generation.
Be intresting to watch Foley on TNA. Although once again with his limited potential for them and (Supposedly) a short stay whats it going to achieve long term for TNA? It's almost as if he's on a scouting mission for Vince.
I haven't seen The Punisher but didn't Nash have the same blonde hair he had when he was in his last WWE run in 2003? That Hair vs Hair match he lost to Jericho on RAW prior to Summerslam was to purely facilitate that movie role.
Anyway, I think the deal is that he has (finally) come to terms with the fact he is over 50 years old and grey otherwise he would have dyed his hair for this TNA run which he hasn't.
Let's face it - Eric Bischoff would have stayed grey as he was in his final WCW run had Vince not have him dyed it.
Enought about Nash, the guy is a waste of space ;).Im intruiged by Micks debut but knowing Vince and TNA,his first promo will be bashing the WWE and saying how unhappy he was there despite the company doing well for him all these years.
TNA Impact did a 1.0 rating on Thursday which is down from last week's 1.1. The tale here? Mick Foley's debut meant nothing....
However, I am sick of all these Ex-WWE stars cutting anti-WWE/Vince McMahon promos in TNA. Yes, the guy is a dick - we know that - but constantly talking about him and the company is effectively putting them over at the expense of their own product.
On F4Wonline a few people wrote in saying that the anti-WWE propaganda on Impact actually swayed them to buy the No Mercy PPV tomorrow. Genius!
Nice one Tna! And i think your a bit harsh on Vince,i dont think hes a dick,he can be a lot of times but its quite sad Russo and the company force their wrestlers to bad mouth him and the E when Vince made them the stars they are,all of the TNA ex WWE employees enjoyed a lot of success and big pushes in the company.
