That wont happen Nymvette because the people on these forums are a far decent and nicer lot then those clowns on that forum :).Its a shame, because there is a lot of good posters there but its ruined by so many idiots who only want to try annoying others or to wind up others. Anywho time for a rant and i woke up several times last night because of it being so humid! I couldnt sleep at all and im in a rare bad mood this morning though i had a rather good dream this morning when i finally did sleep!
Anyway, guys like Logwod keep getting allowed back rather than receiving a permanent ban meaning they re-offend (if you will) so in my eyes that's going easy on him. People always say Logwood is doing this and that wrong, yet no one ever reports his posts. As I already said, we don't see everything that happens unfortunatly.
Mr. Emelinenko is a mod on TWC and if he cares to reveal himself (Although you can pretty much work it out from his user name here) the so be it. But it's not Taffy or Deets. So Mr. Emelinenko you're a TWC member too? And a mod too or have i assumed incorrectly? I post as Ghostface on TWC.
Not that I want to get into this again, but When I was there I sent on many occasions several complaints about Herbie including a very protracted email about the relentless abuse and harassment I recieved from him and all he got was a weeks ban...? THen he comes back a week later Im permeneately banned and he gets away with his disgraceful behaviour. I felt like Anchor for goodness sake. The guys a nightmare.
not meaning it funny. but that's TWC:F why in the blue **** are we bitching about it. **** that let's make our own forum busyer and **** before we continue mouthing their forum off. if all else fails post under a different name on there :P it's not hard.
Just had my manuscript returned again. I only sent it last Monday. They said they are not actively seeking new clients at the moment because they are a small firm and due to their "highly personal service" their spaces are full.
This ALWAYS happen when I'm working on the next chapter too...
Have you thought about doing all your management stuff yourself?
That's what I plan on doing with my band eventually. Management just take a slice of your cash for not much return. It's like "I'll scratch your back so you won't stab mine". Hell it worked for Enter Shikari.
It doesn't quite work that way with book publishing but thanks for the thought.
You can do it yourself in a process known as "vanity publishing" but that involves you investing your own money in getting it published. Then you have to be certain you can actually sell the books to meet costs let alone make a profit. This requires you to shop the book around and get bookstores and the like to stock it or you do it yourself in shopping centres and what have you. Bottom line is that if you have to committ to printing a certian number of copies to break even and another number to make a profit. It's too risky.
When you see on TV shows when characters send off their manuscripts to publishers directly and get them published straight away, that is total rubbish. Pretty much most publishers won't touch unsolicited manuscripts as they prefer to recieve them through literary agents instead. This is because there is the trust factor invovled between the two parties and the more established the agent the more the publisher is likely to accept the work. But getting the agent interested (as I have found) is seemingly hard to do...
And if even when a book is accepted the turn around process is never as quick as they make out on TV, for there are contracts to be made and signed followed by editiorial discussions, redrafts, design issues etc before the actual printing process begins.
All the people who have their success stories printed in the paper make it sound so easy but it's not. Just like it is for musicians - bands just don't get record contracts handed to them just like that, they have to work hard for them.
oh yeah man, I totally understand that. Have you thought about sending samples to other authors with reprasentation. That could work, because I know in the music world at least if someone who's on a management's or Label's books recommends them then there's more of a likelyhood of you being signed.
I hear the bird who did Harry Potter got knocked back loads of times before she got published man, so don't let these rejections get you down bro. EYE ON THE PRIZE!!!
I have thought about writing to authors for advice but it's not something I have put into action just yet.
Yes, JK Rowling had Harry Potter rejected 11 times before it was accepted, although with this (my third attempt at a novel) I am already past that figure....
Why is it, you have casual leaisons with a girl and suddenly she thinks you want her to leave her bf. damn it, now I'm going to have to act like a grown up and sort this **** out :(
I was drunk and she never told me until I was "mid-leasing" lmao. I'll give it the "Stick with your Boyfriend I'm an ******* and I'd end up cheating on you" speach
it's amazing how much 3 days of solid jamming can seem like work, I'm ****ing exhausted. but now "Warcry" and "My Release" now have music to go with their lyrics.
I almost had a stand up fight with my drummer and everything, and I miss my bed lol. on an additional note, parentals being money grabbing C U Next Tuesdays Doesn't help to mellow you out. Honestly, I thought the people who bring you into the world were susposed to nurcher you not try to rip you off for every penny you own.
As I posted elsewhere, booted up my PC this morning to find a message telling me that Windows Explorer had an error. Not a good sign. After some exploration and running of anti-virus scans and what have you I found that I had been the victim of a trojan from some add-on called "Active X" I downloaded to make a video clip work on some site last night.
So I have spent the best part of the morning running scans and downloading updates and ended up following the advice of a security message from my PC to install a spyware/ malicious software protection programme called "Ultimate Defender" which meant I had to fork out $39.95 (about £20) for the licence. But it did the job and I'm now trojan and spyware free.
The moral of the story: Avoid anything to do with Active X!
You need some forms of Active X to make various programmes work. What you need to do is to have a decent Firewall Internet protection system. I get Norton free with my BT Broadband but I also use Zone Alarm which you can get for free around the net. Also, install some other spyware stuff have more than 1.

But it did the job and I'm now trojan and spyware free. That Ultimate Defender program you installed was likely the whole purpose of the trojan/adware/spyware in the first place. It's a commonly used trick with malware.
Here's a link about it here but google threw up loads of links about it.
I'm a bit miffed at reading that but at the same time I did wonder if it was an act of subterfuge and the trojan was linked to the software solution. But at the time I wanted my PC sorted and it did the job. I'll keep an eye on for now.
I do have Norton's Firewall which is usually pretty good. I also have Spybot and my AOL Spyware running too but as the article says they get in via browser loopholes.
back in england.Utter depressed and the first things i heard about was a couple of kids being murdered in our town, and a lot of muggings and stuff happening around my area.Fantastic..I wish i didnt have to say this but england is nothing on Japan for me,I miss Japans friendly, warm atmosphere with all its cute and fun areas which are easy to go to, now im back, i really feel soooo depressed so heres hoping i go back soon! The Plane was delayed for an hour yesterday as well so im really really exhausted from the flight.Still i hope to go back soon. I love it in japan, best place, best people!
Coming back from a holiday/trip is one of the worst things ever. Like, i've only been away once, but coming back from Florida to a cold and ****ty Liverpool was just awful.
Would agree with you there handsome dead.I dont mean to sound like a really miserable git but honestly, once youv been to Japan, you just cant help but feel really down here in england, everything there is so much nicer and kinder, and cute and fun ect ect.Florida is a beautiful place as i went there when i was young, but boy was it scorching! At the moment im still getting over the jet lag, im exhausted! Iv come back to a new pet puppy who has the tendancy to chew away at my bloody toes,in the space of 3 days i have at least 20 scratch marks and several cuts.Still he is very cute.
Sorry to double post again, just been playing mario party 8 on Nintendo Wii and im certain the A.I is biased, when i played the Train board, Luigi would repeatidly get 9 and 10s on his roll and ends up getting every single star while myself keep getting 1s and 2s, i won every mini game that was played but its meaningless when you cant get the stars! Its happened on every board i played, its a tad unfair..that or im just a bad loser ^^.
You'll soon be back Totoro...but I know what you mean, I felt really down after coming back from Japan, Id built up to the holiday for months, enjoyed myself so much, then returned to England which as I say felt like entering the past.
Im hopingbto go to Japan for a couple of weeks in January, probably more to Kansai this time, though I still hope to see a Joshi show or two in Tokyo.
Ditto here Glowlad, i hope to get back in january myself, want to get to see more Joshi of course to! Indeed england just doesnt have the same charm or warmth as Japan,it really does suck here for me, and after a week being back here, i realise my future is there and working there.Only trouble is because of some personal issues i cant get a job out there or do much for the forseeable future in japan so im a little depressed about that.
My medical certificate expired yesterday so they send me a letter reminding me to get a renewal. So I get the letter on Saturday which is not only a measly 24 hours notice but of course when the doctors are shut!! And when I ring the doctors this morning my regular doctor is on annual leave so I have to ring back this afternoon to see if I can see another doctor.
And to add insult to injury, I have my interview with the job centre on Wednesday....
So I've been trying to ring the doctors for the past 45 minutes and when it's not been engaged I've been stuck in a queue! And I tried getting through on the website but I forgot my password and have been locked out. They don't recover passwords via e-mail so I have get in touch with the doctors to re-register - the same docotors who are always engaged!!
Intrestingly enough MiB I work at Fujitsu and trhe contract I manage is the NHS cfh which currently covers the choose and book system. I could look intop your password myself, but I'd probably get into trouble so I can't.
So you don't work currently due to a medical issue? Ive always wondered what you do...
FINALLY after almost 2 hours I got through!! My appointment is 11.30 tomorrow morning. Let's hope this other doctor isn't an arsehole and gives me the certificate.
Shame DM you could have saved me a lot of hassle. The annoying thing is that the site logged me out due to "inactivity". Do they expect us to be on the site daily or something?
It might be the drink talking but the fact that my "Best friend" has got my love interest passed out on Valium whilst he smashes his missus in, in the next room. that kinda pisses me off. seeing as she goes beck to blackpool tomorrow, I guess it could be worst, I am drunken either way but it would have been nice to be able to have some quiet time I guess. **** it though I have a crate and some "The Cure" to sort me out :)
P.S never do valium it doesn't do **** to you it's all a marketing ploy.
Your best friend has your love interest "passed out" on Valium? You mean he forced the stuff on her to dangerous levels? And is "smashes his missus in" a euphemism for having sex or is he physically assaulting her?
And who is going back to Blackpool - your girl or his "Missus"?
Piece of advice for you: choose your friends better and don't post when drinking...
lol I was drunk my friend tends to have sex with his missus everywhere and they were making a loud ass noise.
as for the valium he offered her some when I said it wouldn't be a good idea seeing as she was drinking and had never done it before.
the Love interest is going back to blackpool, and I know it's never a good idea to post drunk. I'm hung over and I'm going to change my password on my computer before I make anymore trouble for myself lmfao.
I have just discovered that AOL (my ISP) has now introduced a capping system despite promising "unlimited downloads". Apparently I'm a heavy user and have exceeded my 40gb a month limit so I've had restrictions put on my speeds.
I'm annoyed for two reasons:
1) They promise unlimited downloads which obviously isn't the case if they have a capping system in place.
2) They could have told us about this. Instead you have find out that you're being screwed before they reveal the new policy has been put into action.
They've called this the "Fair Users Policy" and it's supposed to stop the system from being compromised by heavy users and give everyone equal benefits of downloading. How about they improve the system so they can handle the usage they offer the customers instead of short changing them?
Well at least you've been informed, BT use Stealth Usage i.e. if you try and download from certain sites, especially torrents these sites are 'funnelled' so it's runs slow. Also, I live a distance to far away from my junction box for us to get no more than 8meg. Howevre if I want to goto another provider bbecause of the distance I would have to get a unbundled deal from them which effectively means I have to pay double, so in reality Im better off with BT!!!
Im sure they must be breaching some kind of Monopollies thingy.
I was only informed after I e-mailed them to ask them why they were limiting the speeds on sendpace file sharing hosts. I even paid for a one week upgrade on sendspace to get faster downloads which will expire without me getting the benefits thanks to AOL's subtefuge!!
