I ordered a CD from HMV on New Years Eve. It was despatched on January 7th with a 2 to 5 day delivery time frame on it. It is now January 19th and no CD. I have to wait 14 days from the despatch date before I can complain. That is on Monday.
My days off at work have been Wednesday and Saturday since the summer, and I get to work this morning and find that the rota has changed and it is my day off today! Short staffed for the rest of the week, so I have had to get the two busses home again. Total waste of a morning, plus bang goes my weekly day-off-lie-in!
My xbox360 once again has the dreaded red ring lighting up around the power on circle.Brilliant.Also my dog has came down with a bug :( so we have to take him to the vets this week, im a little worried about him,hes only 6 months old now but hasent eaten well for a little while so..hopefully nothing to serious.
I left my phone at my best friends house last night and didn't have time to get it before work this morning. It's amazing how naked I felt walking around all day without my phone in my pocket. Its almost like a 'safety blanket'! Plus, I know my girlfriend will have been texting me today and I'll have to do some apologising when I get it back!
thanks doc.Im sure my dog will be fine, just a silly little puppy and he keeps eating all kinds of rubbish so its hard to keep on eye on him all the time.
My pup is a beautiful tibetan terrior ^^, very adoreable even though he chews me to bits! hes always exciteable so he seems ok but he doesnt eat and thats quite a worry, but having read a few things about puppys, it does say dogs do have a loss of appetite as they grow so hopefully its just that :).
Well, I'm a bit miffed with AOL at the moment. Last night I got a message to install some important updates which I did and it installed some called BBDial up. This appeared to be a separate way to connect to the Net but without it, I can't get online with the AOL software without it.
It turns out that this is due to AOL's new network. But today I keep getting thrown offline and have twice had to reboot my PC before I could get back online. And I can't even get in touch with AOL because none of their webpages are loading!!
I may have to consider moving to a new ISP provider.
I almost joined them earlier this year just to get the free Playstation 3, but then BT realised I was out of contract and gave me a superb deal, half price broadband for 12 months form my usual cost and 6 months free, plus BT Vision installed free and a refund on over charges on my account from 18 months previous.
I'm not sure of my contract status for the moment because they were supposed to upgrade me to 8mb in return for a further 18 month contract. It's annoying because I've been with them since my first day on the Net in 1997 and it's only been the last year or so that things have got bad.
I've been looking arounf and O2/Be seem like a god option - up to 24 Mb and unlimited downloads for less than what I'm paying AOL.
I know. AOL said that then they quietly introduced the "Fair Usage Policy" without telling anyone which was a 40gb download limit and a cap on file hosting sites like Megaupload.
As usual the idiot brigade are already cracking horrible jokes about Jeremy Beadles passing, some really horrible stuff to on some forums.Even jokes about Madeline Mccann, holly and Jessica ect ect and they think its hilarious. You try and say how terrible they are and the entire forums start ganging up and calling you a retard and all that..Its amazing how low people are these days really..I dont mean to sound like a wet blanket but jokes like that are just not on.Utter BS.
and as if my existing problems with AOL weren't enough, this morning I get a message telling me my account is suspended due to "non payment of charges". I have no idea what that meant but I had to get online so I had to enter my card detials to get access. And all the software has done is close down on me.
The only consolation is that I'm not alone and other users are suffering too as this appear to be the result of the new network changes.
I'll think you'll know of one of those particular forums. One that wasn't mentioned on here too long ago ie yesterday. A particular forum started by a particular welsh sounding moderator called Watch Out, Beadle's a Corpse...
indeed,as dark m said, a certain forum that most of us used to post at and a couple of already tastless jokes about a sick man have been posted.Even the UK fan forums have a couple of twats making idotic remarks and some other wrestling sites.I cant really understand how they see it is funny really but i guess these days its quite a popular thing for the younger generation to mock the deceased and sick. Not many people my age and young have a lot of decency or sensitivity left.It sucks really.
I have been playing netball tonight and now I am very uncomfortable as I have a couple points on my body which were sensitive and a little sore which now due to my clothes rubbing are very sore.
not much of a rant, more of a worry.Im off to meet a friend tomorrow in canterbury. Her english is ok, not great and im a nervous wreck (im not good in crowded shopping centers,i feel really bad)..but hopefully itll be a nice day out as i rarely go out much here.Hopefully i wont sound to silly when i speak in her native language to help her out! Its amazing because iv been around japanese many times before but i get frightfully nervous and shy meeting new friends and people..urgh..suck it up rob ^^!!
My girlfriend is not very well. She had to call the emergency doctor out to her house last night cos she was being violently sick. Its the third or fourth time its happened in a couple of months, but this was worse than the other times. I was on the phone with her til about 2am last night trying to keep her calm while the doctor arrived. She's been for some tests today and it turns out she may have gall stones, so although its not very nice, its not as bad as it could have been, thankfully.
Best wishes and hope shell feel better soon Doc, thats terrible to hear.Hopefully nothing to serious with you. Much apprechiated guys, im sure itll go fine, shes a real nice person and its not her i worry about really, more like going on the train alone in the dark and also i worry about her as a few times as she walks alone a couple of guys have tried to get her into their car.
I have a uncharicteristic Emo mood going on atm. Kinda coming down for having a joyful few days and now a Certain someone's gone back to where she comes from I'm kinda moody.
It makes for good songwriting though so that's a concilation I guess :P
I e-mailed AOL to find out how long I had left on my contract and they say I'm out of contract. So I've requested my MAC and when it comes through I'll be signing up with BeThere Broadband.
Up to 24 Mb download speeds, 1.3 mb upload speeds, unlimited usage, free wireless router, all for £18.99 a month which is cheaper than my current AOL bill!
**EDIT** - After I requested my MAC the AOL software disconncted. Coincidence?
I've just got in from seeing my favourite local band, Razorbach, and although it was a brilliant gig, I was mortified to find that the robbing bar stewards in the pub were charging a whopping £3.20 for a pint of Coke! A pint of Guinness was only £2.80 and a pint of Lager was even cheaper!
In a country where pubs are supposed to be discouraging 'binge drinking' and worse, drink driving, I find this to be ridiculous. It was actually cheaper to get drunk than it was to stay sober! I shall be writing to my M.P..........!
I phoned AOL to request my Migration Access Code and, as you would expect, I was given the hard sell to stay on. The woman at first offered me a reduced price to stay on and a wireless router. She insisted that 8mb was the fastest speed anywhere and said that BeThere wouldn't be able to supply the speeds they offered. She reckoned they have a download limit and speed cap too. I have to give the woman her dues for doing her job but the way her tone changed and seemed angry every time I tried to get her just send the code she got a bit ratty, which annoyed me a bit.
Eventually I had to insist and the MAC code will be sent within the next five working days. I hope I don't regret this decision.
No they didn't. According to the AOL help pages it is valid for 30 days.
48 hours is a ridiculously short amount of time as it takes about a week for the whole changeover to happen, including the new provider to send the starter pack out.
bad mood again..mainly because my dad is being a t**t to my mom so in a pretty foul mood today :(..which is actually quite rare for me! Also my Xbox360 has yet again gone up the creek again. Twice in 6 months its had the dreaded red ring of light...Grrrr...
Well, I haven't received my MAC from AOL so I've just had to ring them up to sort it out. The women said (I think - her accent was too thick) that I'd get another one sent within 3 to 5 days. And guess what? Just like last time, the moment I ended the phone call, my AOL software disconnects from the Net!
BT were able to email it to me. THey have to send it out in a timely fashion as they changed the law about a year ago. Just go through to their complaints line. You may get a better deal thrown at you but they should have to give it to you.
The key points of the new compulsory General Condition 22 are shown below. The full statement on migrations can be read on the Ofcom website.
Broadband Service Providers must supply a MAC on request within 5 working days
Providers must accept a MAC where a customer provides a valid one. This does not prevent a provider from refusing to supply a service to a customer for other business reasons (e.g. credit worthiness, etc.)
The provider is not allowed to charge for issuing a Migration Authorisation Code
Compulsory issuing of a MAC only applies to connections for consumers or small businesses (with less than 10 employees)
The provider cannot withhold a MAC for the purposes of debt collection, or for contractual reasons
Where a customer requests a MAC inside their minimum contract period the customer will still be liable for any contractual obligations (e.g. charges for any minimum contract periods, etc.)
If a MAC cannot be issued, the provider will explain why
Providers should offer the customer reasonable assistance in migrating from/to another provider
Wholesale providers must issue a MAC to their resellers (not end users) and cannot withhold it even if there are contractual disputes
The provider must not disconnect a customers service if a MAC is requested
The retail broadband provider must provide two different ways to obtain a MAC (e.g. by phone, by post, by website form)
When a MAC is issued the provider will also provide its expiry date
A provider must re-issue a MAC on subsequent requests if the previous MAC has expired
